Default The Self-Sustaining Work-at-Home Dynasty Challenge
This challenge doesn't necessarily require Ambitions but the professions and consignment shop will really help.

The Goal
You're going to create a dynasty of sims who only work at home and never shop anywhere. You'll start out with a little house on a huge lot and will eventually build a mansion to house everyone (or a mansion for the main family and smaller houses for the rest).

This challenge will be complete when the lot is worth at least 400,000 furnished and every room is considered beautifully decorated.

This challenge will be considered lost if you run out of family members.

Starting Out
You'll start out with a young adult couple straight out of the CAS. In-game they will have been sent from a strange and distant land, thus why they have all these strange work-at-home customs.

Your starter couple should already be married. It also helps if they're both Family Oriented since Surrounded by Family is probably the only lifetime goal they'll be able to reach. Once their kids are grown there will be enough people working that not all the kids need to have 5 children.

Use testingCheatsEnabled on and then familyFunds [familyname] 500,000 or so to start them out. They're going to need a massive lot, at least 60x60, to build their compound, so you'll need the extra money. To get this lot I bulldozed one of the parks and made it residential.

Once you have the lot clear build a decent but small house with a bath, two bedrooms, and a living/kitchen area. You may also build a small studio to house easels and sculptor stations. Furnish with the cheapest of everything (though you can give them a ++ bed). You can also buy the crib at this point, though any toys or high chairs must be bought later.

Then send someone out to the grocery store and buy 15 of any two recipes to tide them over until the garden kicks in. You will also buy one each of the plantable things, including eggs, cheese, burger patties, and steaks. You can't go back again so don't cook these plantables or your sims will never have them again.

Then send this sim to the bookstore and buy all the recipe books. It's VERY useful to use a mod like AwesomeMod which makes it so the recipe books don't disappear after being read.

Once that is done familyFunds them back down to $3,000 and turn testing cheats back off.

Skill Restrictions
No trait that boosts skills or sales is allowed. That means Anger, Artistic, Athletic, Bookworm, Born Salesman, Eccentric, Green Thumb, Genius, Handy, Natural Cook, Photographer's Eye, and Virtuoso. Any skills the dynasty sims come by have to come the hard way. This goes for starter sims all all future sims.

Furthermore, no skill books are allowed whatsoever. You can have a bookcase or even a whole library, but all skill books must be deleted as soon as the bookcase hits the ground. Skill classes are also forbidden.

Job Restrictions
Your sims may only work as self-employed gardeners, anglers, sculptors, painters, inventors, musicians, nectar makers, and writers. Any sim who decides to work somewhere else will be disowned (this is one way to trim down the population if you end up with too many kids at once).

Your sims will be able to make money via any opportunities which come their way as well.

Other Restrictions
Vampires, mummies, and simbots are not allowed. Anyone who becomes or brings one of these home is disowned.

Your dynasty sims should not become celebrities. As long as you don't impress any celebrities then the sim will not get that first star. It's still allowed to ask for autographs and such, just no getting to know.

After that initial grocery store visit the dynasty cannot purchase anything else there. The only thing they can do is sell their harvestables and fish there (for the gardener and angler sims).

The dynasty can never purchase anything at the bookstore. Along with the skill books all other books that come with the bookcase must be deleted. They can only have the books written by a member of the dynasty.

The same goes for the consignment store. Sims cannot purchase anything there; they can only sell their own items. Furthermore, you may only use buy-mode curtains, rugs, plants, and clutter. Any sculptures or paintings used to decorate the compound must have been made by a member of the family.

Expanding the Family
Your dynasty children can bring local blood into the compound, but only if they meet the skill restrictions listed above. If any of the sims are friends with someone who doesn't meet the description, that's fine. However if they at any point become romantic with someone who has any of those traits then they will be disowned.

Luckily it's possible to mail order a spouse from the old country. If no valid candidates are around town you can CAS one and merge them with the dynasty household. You can either decide that the mail order spouse is meant for a specific dynasty member or you can toss them into the compound and see who they get along with best.

Homosexual couples are allowed, however, adoption is not. All dynasty sims are expected to produce at least one child by the time they age into an adult; if they don't then they and any spouse they have are kicked out. If you have a homosexual couple and would like them to stay, then the one who was born dynasty has to suck it up and have a child with a member of the opposite sex.

Adultery is allowed so if you want to send a gay sim after her sister's husband then go for it. This can be a solution for the homosexual issue or just for the hell of it. However, while adultery is allowed No Jealousy mods are not, so if you choose to go this route you must face the consequences.

Allowed Cheats and Mods
The Cooking and Ingredient Overhaul is not required but it is very VERY strongly recommended. It adds to the difficulty of self sustaining the food supply but not terribly so. As for the recipes that require bread and other things you can't grow without the omni-plant, your sims just won't eat those. It'll be part of the dietary restrictions of their culture.

Strongly suggested is the Scribbling Pad object mod since it allows your sims to write novels without a computer.

Also strongly suggested is the Box of Seeds which will allow your sims to move seeds and fruits and veggies they are going to plant our of their inventory so that they don't accidentally use them in a salad.

You may use any mods that make gardening autonomous or the mods that make gardening, writing, etc fun. Any teen pregnancy or casual woohoo mods are allowed. You don't need a mod to expand the maximum family size but you can use one.

What about a mod that sets the Jealousy to the same room? Ie if the sim being cheated on don't see it, the sim doesn't know about it.

I've done something similar to this before, but I've never really gone whole-hog like this! Setting it up now with the Sterling clan.

One question: is it just going to be impossible to get foreign recipes like falafel? They wouldn't be available at the bookshop, and wheedling them out of the locals is chancey.

This is pretty vague... what about the lifespan?

Can you buy ANY LTR? Can you collect seeds/gems/bugs? Any specific free will setting? Is 'loves the outdoors' allowed? can you for example have sally be both a sculptor and painter?
