I swear, I will never fully comprehend a spammer's mindset. "Oooh, look! It's a thriving forum website with tons of visitors! It's the perfect place to unleash my spambot! Oh, but if it's popular, then that means that there's probably an active moderation team. That's great too! Moderators love spammy advertising! It's not like there has been any blossoming public rancor against spambots for the past 20 years, right? Go sell Daddy's questionable and possibly nonexistent merchandise and make Daddy some money, spambot!" And since spambots are like fire-and-forget missiles (and thus, Daddy's not checking in on them), Daddy probably doesn't notice that his spambots have been shot down by moderators at the last fifty websites he targeted. You would think that he'd notice the distinct absence of fresh money in his bank account, though. Spammers must be idiots.

The only places where I've ever seen spam, spammers and spambots flourish are forums which are virtual ghost towns, like the old Star Wars: Rise of the Rebellion website which I frequented during my Neverwinter Nights craze about five or seven years back. The last time I checked those forums, it was dozens of pages of knock-off Rolex watches, knock-off five-toed shoes and knock-off Viagra. And at the time, I was the site's first visitor in six months. It's a dead website! How many buyers do the stupid spammers hope to pick up?

Anyway, I decided that Debbie Olshfski should do like DJ Verse and Sarah Love did with their toy shop, which would be running her Tai Chi gym from college. I also combined her one-girl household with the six students from my Far East household (who, with a mix of Chinese names like "Shanyen Po," Japanese names like "Reiko Mizozuki" and Chinese or Japanese clothing respective to each, actually fit the Far East theme better than Debbie herself does), because the ready-to-go Tai Chi studio will cost $20,000 and some change to purchase. They should be able to raise the money by their second Junior semester.

But that got me wondering: Performing Tai Chi increases several motives, including Energy. There's also a massage table on site (with room to add up to two more massage tables at a later date), and Debbie and two or three of the Far East students can give Acupressure massages, which give Energy the biggest increase out of the four massage types. There are also toilets, showers and tea tables to see to Bladder, Hygiene and Hunger. So with all this in mind, might it be possible for Debbie and Company to keep customers -- and themselves -- on the lot indefinitely, with their ticket machine buzzing away all the while?

The reason spambots and scams exist, is because they do work. Do they work every time? No. But often enough to be profitable. While serious internet users are often too intelligent to fall for it, not every internet user is a regular user. Every day there is a new crop of first-computer-old people who have no idea that the internet is 90% cats and spam. Desperation makes people do stupid things, and that's why things like viagra, knock-offs and fake-girls works.

As people who can detect spam for what it is, the best thing we can do is educate our less computer-savvy friends and family and perhaps one day it will no longer be profitable to run these things. Until then we might as well just ignore.

Maybe this isn't news to the rest of you, but I hadn't thought of this before and I thought it was rather neat. I'm going through Monkaria's Woodwell springs to decide which lots I want to keep and not, and while in the Dapper Dress community lot, I accidentally placed the OFB cube display on top of another cube display, and it came out looking like this

I did not know they could be stacked one on top of the other. Neat! Definitely going to be using that in my toy store.

Yes, you can use them for school cubbies or as deco for shops.

No, they are just the cube shelves, found under shelving.

Coral Bay is Elsewhere made by Plasticbox! So yes you can download it. The houses though are very tiny, I use a lot of 1 tile space saving cc. Also the Coral Bay that I show on here, I have decorated a lot.

The bank was originally one of Mootilda's tiny lots that I changed around http://modthesims.info/browse.php?gs=0&u=589252&f=143 Mostly because I was feeling too lazy to use the lot adjuster.

OK. OK. You people are convincing me. At the very least, I should have Monique's ATMs around! While continuing to work on this campus, it has come to my attention that EVERY campus I've visited has ATM machines ... and for good reason!

That bank looks pretty cool, too, and I'm now intrigued by these blue books. I suppose it might be time to back up and try this bank set. I already have Monique's computers, so I would think that Monique's items won't conflict with my game's setup. But it seems you never know with me.

I also see there is a PC Sims computer repair station as well. That might be an interesting alternative to my failed computer repair business. Has anyone tried that one? It seems pretty simple, straightforward, and non-NPC-producing. It's a machine. Your Sim does stuff with it. I'm still wondering what the "Sim Plus" in the file name refers to, though! I hope that means that it enhances the Sim's abilities or something like that. I might want to put it in a file outside the game and take a peek with Clean Installer to see what each part of this file might be.

EDIT ... Here is the breakdown of the parts.

Minipacking "Electronics Sims Plus". Object. "Electronics Sims Plus present you phone, cell phone, handheld game, MP3 Player, and another small electronics. A wireless connection will be now simply."

Electronic Compact Crafting Station. Object. "With Electronic Compact Crafting Station your Sim can be craftsman in electronic manufacturing. Improve your mechanic skillpoint to manufacture advanced Electronics like computer and TV! Your customers will be glad to buy handy, handheld and MP3-player and other mini-electronics as well! Hand over your skilling to relation people to make your own home business."

Packing "Electronics SimCom". Object. "Electronics SimCom present your computer, audio, TVs and cash register. Multimedia usage will be now simply!"

So far, it's intriguing. I'm not sure why people aren't using this all over the place in the Sims community, though. Then again, there was a certain modded item I've had from PC Sims for YEARS that very, very few people knew about, but that everyone who has tried it has liked so far. Now that I think of it, I'm hoping THAT isn't the modded item causing problems. If so, the PC Sim item stays. It amuses me.

What is this certain modded item you had from PC sims?
I think I have most of their stuff thanks to Jessa but I'm not likely to use them all.

Worked my way through this topic, had fun seeing all the great businesses. Thumbs up.
I haven't seen the idea of 'running a camping' here yet and I want one of my sims run one on a residential lot.
But I'm not sure how to go about it.
Any ideas?

Essa ... I PM'd you. It's a variation of the cigarette mod. The cigarette mod is on there, but the variation is not.

Camping grounds ... hmm ... I don't think you can charge for sleeping there per se, but perhaps the Electrono-Ticket Machine for certain attractions in a building? (I'm not sure my vending machine test will work here. It might.) Something that will attract Sims ... a pool, perhaps? (But that's not good if you're roughing it.) Arcade machines, another form of Sims catnip, wouldn't work there well, either.

I do believe there is an invisible Electrono-Ticket Machine out there. I know someone here mentioned it. Either here or Plumbbob Keep?

I once was trying to find out why a particular business that I spent days working on wasn't getting customers with the Electrono-Ticket Machine, and made a tiny dance hall with a DJ and a couple of autonomous items. In two-box building on a 1x1 lot. That's it. I mean, the buildings really WERE two boxes with a ladder between them. I spent all of five minutes putting it together, and my Sims loved it. So I think the key to getting your campground in gear would be to find Sim magnets that they'd be willing to pay for. I found that a pretty building wasn't as important.

I never did find out why my more-detailed building didn't get too many Sims. Since I had to wipe out the hood (again), I guess I never will.

@gazania what is the computer repair station? I've never heard of it. Maybe this is why no one is using it, it's unknown. I do have something that makes small electronics, but I don't recall repair being part of its name.

I just discovered it myself while looking for the PC Sims bank. I never noticed it before.

I might give it a try when it's time for another backup.

Thanks for giving your two cents.
The ticket machine certainly could be an option.

Maybe one of these mods could make it work somehow?

But I don't have any experience with these, they are of course ten years old, so I'm a bit hesitant to just throw this in.

I backed up my game and tried the electronics crafting station.

It's interesting. But ... and I hate to admit this, because I really like doing things the easy way and cheat constantly ... using this is all TOO easy.

No jump bugs as far as I can see. Everything works smoothly. The machine (allowing for 2007 graphics) looks pretty neat, and makes nice boxes when you're done. In those boxes are a bunch of options for (mostly) cool small electronics, including the cell phone (called "handy" in the menu), the RC car (Oh, HAY-ELL no!), the gaming system, the burglar alarm, etc. As far as mods go, this one apparently had a lot of thought put into it. You can sell the boxes immediately, pull things out for your own use, or put the box in your inventory. You also rake up mechanical points.

But there are things in this mod that make me wish the Paladin's Place refurbishable computer didn't give my game indigestion. I believe the Paladin's Place variation really is the better of the two, even if you make computers only. With the refurbishable computer, it took time to put the computer together. The PC-Sims mod allows you to complete a whole BOX of electronic goodies way too quickly. And it's autonomous. As soon as my Sim got off, the other Sim in the picture got on.

Anything with an RC car in the menu makes me glad I backed up my hood. I was under the impression that you could CHOOSE which item to craft; not have a box full of options. The station is not terrible. It's just ... meh. There's no challenge to any of it, and you get money and goodies way too easily. I deleted the mod and replaced my game with a back-up copy. That was proabably overkill.

Oh, and sorry for the ultra-crappy pictures. I just wanted to show the machine, not enter that Urban Renewal contest.

I don't have a direct link. But here's the page it was on. I was looking for the bank, and noticed comments about other old PC-Sims stuff here, so I was looking around.
