Default default black hair
Maxis black hair (any age and sex) looks like a dull, flat dark GREY. Black hair for reals can be many shades. Is there a default that at least gets a darker color? Better yet: different sorts of black (gun-metal, shiny deep black, etc). Betterer: hair that looks like hair, not a helmet.
Stand up, speak out. Just not to me..

Except for the whole gallery of hairs at the Default site, I thought of this one: https://aquilegia.dreamwidth.org/20320.html
It's all the hairs replaced with Pooklet colors/textures, plus a few mesh edits (you can probably drop those). It's just one black color, but at least it's black and not grey.

If you want several different hair colors, I think your only option is to roam around a bit in the defualt database.

Default 1st link DOES improve black color, but only for adults

Your first link (Magie) says it includes all colors; I will download to see what the black looks like. Previously I had gotten extra red colors from "The red head project"..which I now can't find.
Your 2nd link to Data base (I went to hair/men or women) only shows black -(3 look like Maxis greyish, but I can't see what the style name is. And - per my usual - I can't find any other page that shows hair defaults.
So I will try one or both of your links, thanks

Aquilegia's defaults are the only ones I can think of that replaces the textures for all (or most of) the hairs in one convenient place. It does look like they should work for all ages, they're just shown on adult sims. Could be you have to delete the Accessory.cache file (it tends to mess with how files show up), possibly update thumbnails if they're not showing properly.

There's several files, make sure you download the most important ones, or you won't get the toddler or child hairs - "Acorntuck through Meg", "Messy through Will", plus the "Gender and Age Conversions" if you want some Melodie9 conversions with new hair colors, too. There's a few files at the bottom, they're hiders, textures and mesh edits (make sure to read before downloading these, you may not need them).
