Default about hair mesh animations..
Is it possible to make a new custom hair shake like other Maxis hairs?
I mean not just follow the head but like bottom of a hair swings when you turn your Sim's head left and right quickly. It's moving very naturally for all Maxis hair even very short cut one and so pretty but It doesn't seem to work with new mesh hairs modified in Milkshape. I checked Joint info of one of default Maxis hair in SimPE and it have joints kind of r-hair,l-hair,b-hair too. We only assign vetexes to head/spin1,2/neck, right? I wonder what people actually mean by 'animation' of hair. I'm trying to make my new hair move in that way but it doesn't seem to. Maybe I've done something wrong but I want to make sure about this.

I'm not a specialist Vetty but I think that the pb with our creations is that we can only assign one vertice to a joint. to have more natural animation maxis certainly use multiple assignments, what's actually impossible for us. with several assigments, you can compensate each "weight" of each vertice during animations with an other assignation. so, because head, neck and spine 0,1 and 2 are right in the middle of the body, they allow to avoid that pb. Perhaps I'm wrong but it's my explanation lol.
Wes_h plugin's already allows so much things we had never expect! it's an amazing tool.

it could be great if someone could correct what I said lol.I hope you'll anderstand what I mean.
sorry for the gibberish, my english is very "basic".

Thank you, ciboulettebis !
I understood very well. I was expecting my hair to be able to work in that way since I must have misunderstood about this so when it didn't I was very confused.
I just wanted to know which is right.
Of course I feel very well enough already and want to thanks to Wes for all of these amazing stuffs.
(I don't know what I'm typing is right,, I really lack of expression,, English.. )

Thanks again and Have a nice day...^_^

I'm sorry for posting another question here but I couldn't help asking.
(and this is not about animation.. )

I recenty made modified hair and everythings are ok but one thing that doesn't seem possible to be fixed to me.

In picture, which I pointed red, those parts are always remained black both sides in modified hair. They are in 'hairalpha' group (without number at the end) and I touched only 'hairalpha9' that is placed at front.

I checked they are all mapped just well in texture and have right alpha, texture bmp and assigned 'head' all. I tried several things too, like doing 'reverse vertical order' or 'weld together' in Milkshape, put another value in opacity for this 'hairalpha' group exp. 0x0000000, 0x00000001 (default value was 0xFFFFFFFF in base hair) but results were all same.

I don't know what's wrong with this.
This hair has 7 pointed out hair around the head but every of them are black.

If anyone know what I did wrong please answer me.
Thank you.

ok vetty. you were right, awful pb with those black shadows....I have tried several things on them, without succes.....:banghead:
I was going to give up when I tried something. because it's more intuition than expertise I'm a little confused to explain what I have done... :haha:
whatever I think that the most decisiv thing I have done was that:

-import the "hairalpha" alone into UV mapper:
-select all;
-in the tool bar: tools==>facets===>two sided;
-tools===>vertices===>weld;
-tools===>normals===>fix seams;
-tools===>normals===>smooth using all facets;

-import the new hairalpha obj into milkshape (I had deleted your before), and reassigned the vertices to "head".
-with the "up" button, put the "hairalpha" between "hairalpha5" and "hairalpha3"

now, no more black hair lol
the result is not perfect. there's still some shadows (but very discreet) on the hairalpha back faces (those wich are very close from the neck), but nothing is black or transparent now.

hope that will help. :wave:
