Default Growth states for a custom plant
I'm looking into creating custom wheat with CCLoader. I've previously created custom recipes, and I have a basic idea how a lot of the parts work. I've read through the pot plant thread, which really is a huge gift to the rest of us. However, that thread explicitly sidesteps anything related to meshing, and that part is my weak point.

I think I understand most of the process, but I'm not clear on how to handle growth stages of a custom plant. Wheat really needs to have its own custom model(s), which would include different ones for multiple stages of growth. An example would be the harvestable banana tree: https://modthesims.info/d/556649/ha...7-nov-2015.html. Everything I've read so far involves a single MODL resource for a given custom plant.

How does this MODL include all the growth states?

they use geostates! if you open up the banana plant in TSRW you’ll see it has three geostates, but all in the one modl.
i found it easiest to separate the different growth states in blender/milkshape and just duplicate the group in TSRW. the you can go to each group and click “select all” for each geostate, instead of having to manually try and select them.
if you need more help, message me on tumblr!! i’d love to have harvestable wheat in game

I would love to have help!

I wondered if it might be geostates because they're a mystical thing I don't understand, and I'm getting to a place where I think I understand more than I don't understand

I have done a little bit in TSRW, usually rote from a tutorial, but I've mostly worked in Blender. Are geostates just totally different models stuck together somehow? Haha.

I'll open the banana tree in TSRW and take a look. Then maybe I can have more useful questions.

ETA: A different sims modder was interested in modeling the wheat, but they only have done TS4 cc. I would think it's pretty similar, but I don't know for sure because I don't even play TS4.

To remind myself how to work with CCLoader, I made some scrambled eggs. My kid, who is playing an alternate universe of my Morbid Decade Challenge where the foundress doesn't die in childbirth, wanted an easy way to eat eggs. I figured it's been a while since I did stuff for CCLoader, so I thought I'd start with something I theoretically already know how to do .

Provided that works, I'll be ready to see if my draft of the custom wheat plant works!

Maybe I'll submit the scrambled eggs if nobody has done them. I thought I had seen something like that, but several Google searches haven't found it. This is just a level 1 autolearn recipe that takes one egg as an ingredient. I don't have my usual editing software, so the art is currently terrible.

ETA: It worked fine, and the images aren't even that awful. Nice! When I get the ability to clean it up, maybe I'll submit it.

ETA2: OK, I have stepped through Arsil and dawg's legendary custom cannabis thread, and I have the first draft of the wheat plant ready to test. I just have to get time on my kid's computer to test it. Wish me luck!!
