MTS Official 2015 Calendar Contest: TS4
Official MTS 2015 Calendar Contest: The Sims 4Use your creativity to showcase your sim as the Miss/Mr in a shot fitting for each month of the year. The picture should be "modeling-esque" shot with your single sim as the main focus representing the "feel" of a particular month. An adorable cupid for Love Day, a teacher for September, or a witch for Spooky Day, the possibilities are endless. Please use northern hemisphere seasons. Seasons expansion pack and use of seasons holidays (Love Day, Spooky Day, etc) not required.
Rules
1. 1 picture per entry. You may only enter a month one time but may enter 2 separate months.
2. Only 15 entrants per month. Please no place holders. Each spot is only filled once the picture has been submitted.
3. CC is allowed. However, please make sure to follow MTS rules for CC; no pay content.
4. Pictures must be 1000 (width) x 750 (height).
5. Minor photoeditting is permitted to create weather effects since TS4 does not have anything to simulate weather at this time. Your picture must still look like a game picture though so blurring, drawing onjects/accessories/etc in, adding borders, etc is not permitted. For further details, please see the info button at the bottom of the rules list.
6. When posting your picture, please make sure to include the month it belongs to.
7. Sims 4 only. For Sims 2 version, please go here and for Sims 3 version, please go here.
8. REMEMBER: This is a PG-13 Forum! Your entries may not include adult content, pornography, or other inappropriate content. Just because it is Miss/Mr does NOT mean it needs to be raunchy. Any entries that do not adhere to this will be removed. Leefish's July entry for the 2012 Calendar is a perfect example of how to be "sexy" without being raunchy or tasteless.
Photoshop Rules
Typically these contests do not permit photoshopping but since TS4 is still brand new and doesn’t have all the fancy in-game advantages that TS2 and TS3 have, we’re gonna alter that rule a little to help you with your seasonal stuff. So, you may edit your image to add seasonally appropriate weather effects. This could be as simple as adding a few faint white dots to look like gently falling snow or as detailed as hand painting storm clouds with lightning bolts or drawing orangey-red leaves to trees. You may also adjust the lighting/brightness, saturation and perhaps add a faint tint to your image if your chosen weather effect isn’t suited to the day-glo green scenery of Willow Creek. Remember you can also experiment with taking your picture at different times of day for different lighting effects.
The important points to note are:
This quick before and after example is intended to show you what effects can be added and how they can be used. It’s not perfect (excuse the wonky rain!) but should give you an idea of the levels of editing that would be considered acceptable. If you're unsure, please just ask.

The important points to note are:
- Whatever weather related edits you make should blend well and must look like it’s part of the game. That means no copy and pasting a sky from a real life photograph and if you plan to fiddle with the brightness, saturation or add a tint, it must still look like a game pic, so shouldn’t be too washed out or neon etc.
- No photoshopping of the actual sims please (except if you’re doing something that edits the whole image like adjusting brightness).
- No photoshopping anything that can’t be described as a seasonally appropriate weather effect. That means no adding objects, accessories, borders, or text etc.
- This is absolutely not a requirement. If you can make your image without adding outside weather effects, you’re more than welcome to do so and you won’t be judged any differently.

Effects Used:
- Brightness/contrast
- Slightly de-saturated
- Slight tint/colour change
- Shaded clouds
- Drawn on rain
How to Enter
1. Pick a month and take a picture to represent that month.
2. Upload the picture to any image host - Tinypic, Photobucket, Flickr, ModYourPanties, etc
3. Start a new post on this thread - click Go Advanced, and you can click the little "Insert Image" icon in the toolbar, or just copy-paste the image location into some [img] tags. Make sure to include which month your picture is for.
4. Submit your post - doing so will submit your entry.
5. If you want to do two entries, you need two separate posts.
Duration/Time Period
The contest begins November 1st, as soon as this is posted. Contestants will have until November 30th to post pictures. However, if a month fills up before that date, that month will be closed for new entries and judging.
Contestants
15 per month maximum
Judging and Scoring
Judging will be done by a panel MTS Staff and these are the things that the panel will be looking out for when entries are judged.
- Theme - Does your picture represent the month you chose?
- Creativity - Originality of idea
- Style - Use of space, props, is it pretty?
- Rules - CC adherence, no editing, inclusion of month
Prizes
A sticker for both winners AND participants, like these.
A calendar will be made for download with each winning month.
And, of course, the blue ribbons for each month’s winner.
Questions
Q: I already entered 2 separate months for TS4. Can I compete in the TS2/TS3 calendar as well?
A: Yes, you may. You're more than welcome to submit for all the contests, giving you 6 chances to win!
Q: I'm not sure if my entry is too sexy.
A: If you're questioning the raciness of your image, ask yourself why. Have someone else take a look it. We also have a live chat that you could pop in and ask other members as well.
[COLOR=Red]The picture you post will be your final shot - make it good. Posting a random picture of a christmas tree, easter bunny, yourself, etc to reserve a spot is not allowed and it will be deleted.
Once your post has been added to the table, it may not be changed. Do not change the picture, you may not delete it and enter a new month instead, etc. If you choose to delete your entry, you are removing yourself from the contest and no further entries will be permitted from you.
If anyone is notified that they have used pay content, their entries will be disqualified. The spots they had will NOT be held. [/COLOR]

Hi Roxy! I decided to also do a Sims 4 entry, this picture is Supposed to look like November, but its kinda hard in TS4, since there is no seasons, it just came out so basically no content, and TS4 doesn't have a store like TS3 does.

Indeed, that's why we decided to allow some photoshopping for this contest (there's no photoshopping for the TS2 and TS3 versions of this contest because they already have more than enough content to work with!) That being said, you don't really need to have seasonal items or weather to come up with something to represent each month, you just need to think outside the box a little e.g. Just because everybody knows Christmas is in December, doesn't mean your sim has to be dressed like Santa or surrounded by twinkling lights and tinsel. Maybe they're just doing an activity that's commonly done at that time of the year like sitting by a cosy fire or baking cookies. If nothing's coming to you, try googling national holidays or observances and see if anything jumps out at you. I'd steer clear of the more wacky special occasions though, I can't promise the judges will agree that "Wear Brown Shoes Day" is a great representation of the month of December

By "No Pay Content," I suppose the parts from special editions of Sims 4 are barred as well?

No, anything from special editions, limited editions, or store content (this goes for all games) is considered game content and can be used freely. Pay content only refers to 3rd party custom content that must be paid for.

@Julie J, you’re added to the table and you’re our first official TS4 entry!
@indigoskycaller, your picture is 1280 x 1024. All entries must be 1000 by 750px so they can be added to the calendar easily if they win. Once you've got the correct dimensions, please edit your entry to swap the pictures out (a new post saying "hey I edited my post" is fine though so we know to check it) and we'll be able to add it to the table.
Also, are the fairy lights in game or are they added with photoshop? I get the feeling it’s the latter. If so, I’m afraid that’s against the rules. You’re only allowed to edit in anything that could be described as a seasonally appropriate weather effect. Nice job with the snow and lighting though

@missroxor My heart hurts, I had to cut a big slice of her body and now it's like something's off. çAç I hope it's ok now, anyway.
As for the fairy lights, they're an ingame feature. They're all around Willow Creek on non-playable buildings. I put the original SS if you don't believe me.

Hokay, I read the rules this time. HUZZAH!
The month is January. My sweet simmy is enjoying a warm beverage while staying warm inside.
I'm about to plop the previous picture on the Sims 4 pictures thread if anyone is interested, since it did turn out adorable, but single sims only for this. :D

Aww, I'm sorry. I know it sucks to have to re-crop when re-sizing isn't enough but the winning pics will be made into an in-game calendar so the pics all have to be the same :/ Also, thanks for confirming the lights are in game. It seems I need to spend more time looking at the background buildings when I'm in my hood!
@indigoskycaller, @RomerJon17 and @Zexxa, you're all added to the table now.

Here's a Spring entry for March:
It's a wee bit spoilery, but hopefully it doesn't give away too much of where/how to find it. ;)

Is there a way to prevent trees from disappearing when zooming in? It's so annoying.

Since i also didn't read the single sim rule i decided to give my other picture a twist by making the couple part of the props. This new entry presents Venus helping couples get together with her magic kiss. I hope that it doesn't go against the rules, because i really think February is best represented by the concept of love.

@indigoskycaller, your image is showing as 1280 x 960 when it should be 1000 x x750px :/ I haven’t added you to the table.

June
Nothing says June like a sunny evening working on the garden.I did minor adjustments to make the lighting stand out a bit more, as if the sun was setting a tad bit.
(Edit: I fixed my entry so I have a single sim in the photo. Silly me for not reading things carefully.)
