Fantasy Races Mod [Testing / Feedback needed]
I shared this for testing purposes before but realized I probably should have posted here instead so here we go. The purpose of this mod is to add various fantasy races to the game (some inspired by greek mythology, others by D&D, and others are just weird). Here's the description I'd given it.Fantasy Races as Gameplay traits~
I wanted to make elves after reading way too many Drizzt books, as well as some fantasy interests of mine I'd spent way too much time looking into on tvtropes. They aren't necessarily going to be faithful to anything, in part because the bonuses have to be relevant to the Sims universe for there to even be a point to this. Researching what the rules for elves even are lead to me deciding to just include the 8 races I'm aware of on that universe, on top of the ones I wanted for myself anyway. There's still a requested extra fantasy race I'm working on, as well as a Gargoyle that's not functional at all so if you see any traces of it in-game please refrain from screaming and stay calm, the bad stone skin overlay can't hurt you (it does hurt my soul, though).
Each race/species has their own bonuses as well as an aging setting, which usually manifests as either weekly age loot that will either decrease or increase their current age progress depending on the chosen race, or as a custom bonus that may need to manually be triggered. If you've been following my slightly depressing saga of age modifier rants, you'll understand it had to be implemented this way for it to (mostly) work.
The fantasy races/species included, as well as their special characteristics, can be found within the spoiler.
Dragonborn (Yeah, I had to look this up)
- +1 bonus to Charisma
- +3 bonus to Fitness
- 10% faster skill gain on Physical skills
- Ages +3 days once a week
- Their gardening will always be as effective as if it were a maxed skill
- They can kinda do the Gift of Sulani if you have Island Living (this interaction is experimental and often a meanie that refuses to work)
- Eating fresh harvestables will make them 1 day younger a piece
- Gain all mental skills 10% faster
- +2 bonus to Fitness
- +5 bonus to Handiness
- Become up to 4 days younger once a week
- +2 bonus to Fitness
- +2 bonus to Logic
- Their energy decays 50% slower and recuperates 50% faster
- Become up to 6 days younger once a week
- +10 bonus to Mischief (i don't need nice modern fairies in here rn)
- +5 bonus to Charisma (gotta fool those pesky mortals somehow
- Nearby mortals will be dazed for 12h after initial uninterrupted exposure, with their needs decaying slower at the cost of not building relationships
- The Fair Folk are ageless after Young Adult, at the cost of not understanding mortal life and art, leading to their Creative Skills growing 50% slower
Currently stuck in development heck
Gnome
- +5 bonus to Robotics for some reason
- +2 bonus to Logic
- Like Dwarves, they gain mental skills 10% faster
- However, they regain up to 5 days of their lifespan per week
- +2 bonus to Charisma
- +10% bonus to the build-up of both social skills, and relationships
- They can age down up to 2 days per week
- Immune to fear
- +2 bonus to Fitness
- +1 bonus to Charisma
- 10% bonus to improving creative skills
- They get up to 3 days younger per week
- +5 bonus to Fitness
- Fun is regained by exercise at an accelerated rate
- Fighting interactions have a chance of refilling their energy
- Also they age +3 per week
- +10 bonus to Fitness
- Nearly-frozen Bladder need
- Swimming in a body of water will cause the energy of those around them to slowly deplete, at which point the age of the Naiad has a chance of resetting back to the start of the current phase
- Hygiene decreases 10x faster
- Immune to embarassment
- ...Romantic relationships grow 10 times faster???
- Friendly relationships are at 0.1x, though, oops
- Ages normally
- +10 bonus to handiness
- +10 bonus to wellness if you have Spa Day
- +10 bonus to herbalism if you have Outdoor Retreat
- Can't die of old age
- Immune to Fire (finally a useful immunity)
- +1 bonus to Logic
- +2 bonus to Charisma
- Gain social skills 10% faster
- Regain up to 1 day of lifespan per week
Of course, I might add more things to this over time. I'm not really into social interactions (if you want social interactions for D&D stuff, get Emoria's MTS mods), but mostly in the case of additional bonuses and perhaps even drawbacks to each selection of a fantasy race.
Keep in mind that they conflict with each other, so you can pick one and only one.
Since this is still unfinished, there isn't currently an inheritance system or even in-game method to choose your fantasy race yet (send help i suck at trait pickers), so ye gonna have to cheat

I once again emphasize that this is still in its experimental phase, so if you choose to try this mod out, handle with care and please inform me of any bugs
I mostly need testing for the long-term stability of the aging system, as some of them could live for 700+ days and I realistically can't test entirely lifespans on my own. Any other feedback would be deeply appreciated.
