This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, University Life, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Any reason I have to reinstall Origin every time I try to open it?
I can't believe I'm still playing the Sims when there are this many problems.

Doesn't happen for me when I open Origin. What operating system do you have, what gameversion is your Sims 3 game and where is your Origin & Sims programmes installed?

Thanks for your reply! I have Windows 10, game version 1.69.43.024017, and I'm not sure what you mean with the last question. If I click open file location on either icon, they take me to the Program Files x86 folder in my C drive. I hope that helps! (I have my EPs and SPs on my Origin account so I never boot from disc)

When I first click Origin open, it says Updating Origin and goes through a little update bar all the way to the end. Then when it should be finished another window pops up instead and says UPDATE ERROR: Your update could not be completed. Please download and install the latest version of Origin from.." with a link to the website. Then I go and reinstall and it opens and I click "play" on my TS3 game. The launcher comes up fine but after I hit play I get a black screen that does nothing else until I restart my computer all together.

All of the EA answers to this problem which I can find seem to advise uninstalling and using CCleaner.

I wouldn't advise this however unless you really know what you are doing, as this involves giving administrator access to a third party program to edit your registry. What I would advise instead is to remove Origin and Sims 3 completely from your computer through the add/ remove apps panel in your system settings. Remember that this will also remove any other Origin games that you have installed, so backup any savegames and userdata for those programs as well as your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 folder first. Then, manually clear your Origin appdata files- delete Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Origin. Also delete any Sims 3 files from Users\[username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore. Then, restart your computer and reinstall Origin to a different location- I would recommend something like C:\Games. Set Origin to install programs to C:\ Games also. Once Origin is installed, reinstall Sims 3 and expansions and restore your backup of the Sims 3 folder (if you need it), see if that works better!

Thank you!!! I am still having issues with TS3 but this appears to have solved my Origin issue! Thank you so much!

Btw, do you think I could be having issues with TS3 because when I chose the file locations through Origin, I chose C:Games for Origin and TS3, but for "Legacy Game Installers" I left it at C:\ProgramData\Origin\DownloadCache. I did this because when I tried to use the Games file location it told me "Original and destination folders are the same. Please choose another folder." But I was unsure what to change it to! Thanks again for the help

Here's a link to my thread on the black screen issue if anyone else ever stumbles onto this thread and needs to see it: https://modthesims.info/showthread....1&cb=1614215550

No, that's fine- the legacy installers are the installation files that have been used; they are put into a separate location so that when you check for game updates, Origin checks what files you already have and doesn't download if you already have the installer, to save on your download bandwidth and hard drive space. It won't affect the game at all.
