Hi everyone, I am new to this challenge and I would like to give it a try, but I can't figure out some family mechanics
My major question being: do the remaining heir/spouse from the previous generation count towards the family structure of their respective heirs? E.g. my heir rolls "couple" and their parents are alive; should they be "taken out" before the heir starts reproducing or can they die peacefully at home?

BTW, it's sooo nice to see this thread alive and going strong, I was afraid that the whole genre of Sims 3 legacies has died out :c

Hi, welcome to the challenge! Always a pleasure to see new faces.

Your prior generation's adults (founders, heirs, heir's spouses, helper sims, etc) may remain in the household after the next heir takes over, if you so choose. You are free to move them out, or have their heir move someplace new, or have the prior generation stay as your playable sims until they die, it's all up to you.

Many simmers find it difficult to let go of the past generation, and the elders' help with child care is certainly a bonus! Others dislike cramped households and more often than not have their heirs move away from home for a fresh start.

If you keep the prior generation around, they may even keep their jobs, though they don't have to. Sometimes I have my elders retire and sometimes not.

I haven't updated this story since March. March! But here's a new chapter and the last one of gen 1 at that. After more than two years in the first generation it's finally over. Hope generation two does better.

Well, I had an 80-Picture post ready to go for my first post of my random legacy, and then Wordpress apparently ate the whole thing. I'm annoyed.

But I might rewrite it and post again later. Meanwhile, anyone have any tips for working with Wordpress?

@Lumasong Wordpress editor is really annoying since they updated a few months ago. I still am not completely used to it. And I keep getting this error where I'm editing a post, it tries to autosave, and it tells me I don't have authorization to change the page. So I keep having to refresh, which is really annoying. If you aren't getting the hang of it, you could try classic editor by starting a new block, clicking the plus button, and finding the option for classic editor. But since I'm using imgur for my pictures, I have been using this updated editor since I can drag an image from imgur right into the post. That's kind of neat!
