We could also convert the cemetary into a residential lot. Then, kill off all of the sims and once we're done, we can convert it back into a community lot.

But let's stay away from this. I don't like killing off children.

Lol! Yeah, it's not a big deal. Plus, it seems hectic. No worries, I think the new storyline will work just fine.

Someday, MMAA, you can make a BG+NL hood and do that storyline. You've got time.

In my case, I know I definitely didn't send the graves to a cemetary, because that was banned by the apocalypse rules. It's more apocalyptian if nobody can sleep because ghosts are wailing all night, you know

We have too many residential lot, so I converted some of the residential lots into community lots. #14 is a Pet Store now. #15 is a Fire Station now. (It can be abandoned, if you want) and added two new community lots (62 and 63)

Anyway, I uploaded the new version. If I missed any houses you've created, please let me know and we'll add it to the neighborhood.

Jawusa, do we really have too many residential lots? I was hoping that would be the case, cause you know, cities have a large population. :/ :P

Anyways, don't forget a police station! We might as well have one since we'll have a fire station! :P

Also, it seems as though we have a lot of public and service facilities around... Should we create some sort of a school building as well? (The area near the satellites/"solar panels" seems quite suitable!)

15-20 families and 25-30 residential lots should be enough, I think.
If we really need more residential lots, the area above the satellite dishes is completely empty, so we could fill that area with the new residential and community lots.

Yes, we should build a school, police station, (maybe military base) or other buildings which need to be included in a city. We don't have a casino yet, so we could build that as well.

Since y'all are talking about residential lots, I'll go ahead and ask a question--I picked number 8 for my sim Shonda to live on, because it was one of the smallest lots available, and I want her to have barely any space. But it's still actually pretty large--the lots that are built across the street are apartment lots. I wouldn't mind making 8 an apartment lot as well; that way Shonda can have a tiny flat in it, but then I would have to leave it unoccupied so that the player can convert it, and how would they know that that's where Shonda goes?

The more I think about it, the more I realize how odd it is that all of the lots on the map are so large. Downloading a mini-lot and inserting it into the map doesn't require the end-user to download anything. Is this something that's been considered at all?

@EmeraldFalcon 3x2 is the smallest size you can place in a base game only game but you can use Mootilda's LotAdjuster to shrink a lot. And, the apartment lots don't need to be unoccupied. The downloaders can still convert it to actual apartments. Even if the sim moves out, you can subtract 8 from the U0 field in SimPE and the furnitures will all remain. http://modthesims.info/t/showpost.p...298&postcount=3

Then, they can convert the lots into apartment lots and move Shonda in. It's not that complicated. We may include an AL version of this neighborhood as well.

Anyway, you may build occupied apartment lots.

I was talking about something like this: http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=276941

The smaller lots wouldn't require any additional downloads on the part of the user, and they would work with any game configuration.

But as far as Shonda goes, I like the idea of an occupied apartment lot better, anyway. I think I will just build the structural skeleton and only furnish her apartment completely, so that the player can see what the apartment is supposed to be like, but the sims won't have any reason to go poking into other apartments.

I like the new hood picture It's getting really exciting!

Did Peni finish her Mall lot? I thought she wanted somebody else to look at it - shouldn't it be in "In progress"?

I think a school would be great. It can serve either as decoration or players can use it as a real school using the school mod sets. With this, there are generally two set ups - either create as a residential lot, with small residence for a caretaker/janitor and his/her family, or create as a community lot, but it needs OFB then to be playable so it can be bought and owned.

I'm struggling to see how it's possible to build a casino, pet store or bowling alley in base game. I get that they will be mock ups/upgradeable, but would it not be better to build usable things for now? There are multiple community lots possible in the base game - many already mentioned, but I made another list, too. I appreciate I'm not part of the main group, so this is just a pondering really.

Off the top of my head, usable lots for base game:
Open air pool, water park
Gym
Combined gym/indoor pool
Pool and spa
Large pond or lake, for BBQs/dates/walks
Play area with sandbox, chess and swings
Sculpture garden/botanic garden
Maze (created with water, hills, hedges, foundation, walls)
Chess club
Arcade - pinball, darts and myshuno
Observatory or lab with several telescopes
Farm lands
Mock "beach" (pool/lake plus sand texture, palm trees, loungers)
Game shop/bookshop/several kinds of clothing stores with different themes/newsagent (magazines)
Offices (computers, desks, or empty)
Juice bar/normal bar
Bar with darts area
Dance hall (Speakers, piano, dance floor)
Cabaret hall (piano on a stage, seating)
Possibly a market square
Town hall/museum
Town square/meeting place

Regarding apartment buildings and units: Since we don't have the household selection system from AL, we should set up a system/few standards as to how to identify which unit belongs to which family.

Here's a suggestion:

When you write the household story of an apartment building, before the story of each household, write the unit number first. So the family that lives on the ground/lowest floor would be:

(Ground Floor) Unit #1: The Keatings have recently blah blah blah...

(First floor) Unit #2: The Harrises have been blah blah blah...

You have to be more specific if you have multiple units on the same floor. You start from the left, but always go with the units closest to the road first, those further come second.

Some thing like that. If you guys have a better system, please, do share.

Oh, I love your lot suggestions, simsfreq.

As said, the area above the satellites is empty. So, we could include more lots.

So, this is not intended as a completed lot.

I thought, Peni wanted that lot to be under construction. So, that the downloader can finish it themselves if they want but maybe I misunderstood her.

Did you finish her mall yet?
As I see here http://modthesims.info/showpost.php...9&postcount=188
You are still working on it, ... or?

We already did a similar thing in Bayside Flats. We created a (goning to be) business owner and gave her enough money to purchase that community lot. In the suburb subhood version, she is already the owner of that community lot. We could do something similar to this. Let's say the old witch who resides in lot #38 is also a headmaster and owns a school. Her twin sister can be an employee (meaning, she could be a teacher!)

So, it's going to be incomplete?

Anyway, I created the family for lot #38. I will take screenshots soon.
I tried to create Mrs. Crumplebottom-ish sims but they look more like human-bird hybrids than Mrs. Crumplebottom.
Especially the grandmother (Amselina Rotspatz). Her face... I think, I'll have to redo the family.

I figured people should have a chance to look at it and see if they got any ideas before going to the trouble of downloading, placing, and opening the lot.

The trouble is that the Mall is too big a retail lot for me to work on comfortably - my biggest retail lot ever is on a 3 x 4 and it's been a bugger to build without all EPs - so I quickly found myself floundering and getting frustrated trying to figure out where the clothes should go, where the arcade should be, how to make things take up enough space, even how to arrange the patio. It should not be used as is, without even anything for sale yet.

I'm certain that the concept of the core C.J. Peggey's being built around is sound, but if nobody else gets inspired by it, by all means start fresh. The only part of the structure I'm at all invested in is the Peggey's, and I do have one of those in Bigg City, so don't fear my ego or hurt feelings.

I really like the idea of the newer mall being built around the older building, but I have no familiarity with American malls and I fear I might get something glaringly wrong. We don't even *have* malls, strictly speaking, we have shopping centres, but I don't think the concept is exactly the same.

If I've understood Peni correctly, it's not intended to be incomplete. It's incomplete *now* but she was offering it up as an orphan project for somebody else to take on, and if nobody wants it, then it is intended to be scrapped rather than included in the finished hood in its current state.

Is that right?

Correct.

A mall is a big too-bright building with appalling acoustics, full of shops, generally with a food court and an arcade but not necessarily. There's only so wrong you can go, especially with vanilla content. Anyway, that's one of the benefits of a group - you post pictures, ask for feedback, people say: "In my mall that back area would look like this, what do you think?" And then you tweak it some more.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

I had a look in Peni Griffin's lot and added the objects but I guess, it's no longer needed because I know that simsfreq will create a much better version of the mall.
Anyway, that's what I did.

I hope they're not too ugly for the neighborhood. Someone stopped playing Mountainside Valley because the MV sims were too ugly for her...
Anyway, the grandmother looks like an owl and passed her owl-genetics onto her descendants. I hope Peni G's Hart family will beat these owl-genetics.

I can't wait to see how Amselina and Valentine's/or Rhett's children will look like.

Wait, the MV characters are ugly? That's what they thought? For real? The MV characters are probably the prettiest sims we ever created. Meh! Whatever suits them. :P

And yeah, the genetic possibilities are numerous! :O

ETA: Different topic: Do you guys think we need more people to help out on this due to the large (and growing) amount of lots? If so, I'd be happy to update those in the Sims 2 forum section (as well as tumblr).

The person who stopped playing MV because they considered the characters ugly just wasn't part of the audience for the hood. You can't please everyone and shouldn't try.
