Mini-Megahood in the making
Hello everyone! Thanks for the invite! I'm usually a lurker, so hopefully this thread will change it (at least until I fill up my social meter and go back to my antisocial ways ).Anyway, I've been perfecting setting up clean and empty hoods for years - while I sometimes played around with the shipped hoods, I usually did it without ever touching the premades. Then I started playing nothing but premades - and (it was about time, I guess) I fell in love with them. I was thinking about setting up my own mini-megahood when Phaenoh uploaded her awesome Pleasantview, so here I am right now - it's my new main
Awesome hood is awesome! Awesome lots are awesome too - I'm completely in awe of what I've seen so far.
Attached to it are:
Strangetown as the shopping district (not much shopping going on there, that's for sure )
They might be better off going to Belladonna Cove anyway (also a shopping district)
Of course, there is a Downtown as well (Tricous FTW!).
I added two out of three vacation destinations as well - lovely Prometedor and Winter Wonderland:
...and two Uni subhoods: SSU (completely empty) and LFT (with premades - I refuse to play without Jasmine Rai and Stella Terrano )
There is still a lot to be done in both Strangetown and Downtown and I'm planning on building the Far East vacation subhood from scratch, but at least the hood deco is (mostly) in place. Aside from adding and revamping community lots, I'm slowly going through the families, setting them up and giving them makeover. As a rule, plastic surgery is not an option for any of the premades - however, any CC is fair game I usually play loose rotations, keeping the families mostly in sync, but without any strict order and/or length - nobody will be aging up prematurely, but I might spend several seasons with the Tricous, while, for example, Jessica Peterson will get a couple of days of gameplay to catch up with the others (and possibly cause as much drama as possible in such a short time). I have a number of assorted sanity-saving mods + (newly-installed after a long time) ACR, so I'm planning on giving my Sims some basic training and then letting them take over with as little interference as possible
Starting with Pleasantview, here's what happened so far. Spoilers for picspam
After the initial makeover, but before anything major happened. I went with darker look for Lilith (the hair is actually custom). She landed a gig at the young inventors club (now I really want to know exactly what they're inventing with her at the helm ). Angela is a cheerleader
Homewrecker incoming! (loving the default replacements - they're brand new in my game, IMO the results are spectacular!) I should probably slap some CC makeup on her, but she looks decent enough so it's not an immediate priority. I'm sure I'll encounter her again somewhere
So I decided to fulfill Daniel's wishes... Of course, Mary-Sue got demoted, came home and ran past her husband slow-dancing with the maid straight to the bathroom...
...what?
(bashing ACR with a hammer... ah, much better )
So Daniel got himself booted to Sim Bin, leaving Mary-Sue scrambling to pay the bills on her measly Campaign Worker salary Meanwhile, the girls bonded over Don't Wake the Llama
cooking in sync (at least one of them is actually making salad)
...of course, this had to happen at some point. I was starting to get worried.
Lilith got pwned ...she was crying about it for hours
Still, they are mostly tolerating each other. I left them with almost positive LTR, which is the first for me, they're usually at each other's throats all the time. They do draw the line at sharing their diaries
I do understand Angela complaining, Lilith virtually sat on her lap with her own diary. Lilith is just being a jerk.
Oh, and this guy
...he's getting adopted STAT!
Got them a house and a makeover. All three of them turned out to be stunning.
Not much has happened gameplay-wise, except
Lucy being inappropriate
exploring the properties of static electricity (autonomously! - I adore this kid)
and, well...
I can't even...
Michael didn't take kindly to moving houses though. He was on the roll the whole (first) night, and methinks that he has a massive grudge against Nina She got spooked at least three times before I sent her to bed. I kinda feel sorry for her - Pleasantview might get a cemetery earlier than I planned
And this is not Stinky. The game generated a bunch of dogs and only three or four cats - but they all look great
...oh, and ACR sent Dina and Mortimer Goth to bed. There might have been chimes...
This is as far as I've got. I still need to figure out what to do with the Goths - I'm planning on leaving them for last and see where the game takes the other characters. I'm hoping for at least some drama though, my previous hoods were pretty much dull (hence the ACR).
TBC.

Your 'Hoods look great zeka81. I enjoyed your post a lot. Your Pictures were really nice. Looking forward to the drama to come.
I love Stella Terrano, mostly because she is an Alien and I love Aliens.

Phaenoh's Pleasantview does look rather breath-taking, markedly more so than its pre-made counterpart. The Burbs do look rather stunning, and I love the characterization and depth you supplemented many of the premade sims with. Overall, reading about your hood was rather pleasant, and I anticipate hearing more about it soon!

Wow, I love what you've done with the Pleasantview sims so far! Lucy Burb looks so adorable! What default replacement dishes are you using? I couldn't help but notice them in your pics from the Pleasants. Are they here on MTS2?

Thanks, everyone! I haven't played much these days, but I did go through Broke and Dreamer households, and here are the results Again, picspam under the cut.
Modder, the dishes are from this set here on MTS.
I stayed with them long enough for Beau to grow up and the baby to be born.
Here's Dustin. Despite his criminal career, he seems to be a good kid. So far, his wants were mostly school-related.
Brandi bonding with Beau over extremely important topics such as... fashion?
The welcome wagon arrived, consisting of Darren Dreamer, John Burb and Jenny Smith, who livesright next door in Strangetown.
Then it was time for Beau to grow up. Brandi threw him a small party and invited Dina and Nina.
The kid grew up just fine. I liked both his haircut and his fashion choice.
Anyway, I think Nina was seriously trying to tell me something.
Uh, honey, you do realize that you're a romance sim?
Meanwhile, the two mothers-to-be bonded over children's toys. And yes, Dina is definitely pregnant.
And here's baby Hailey - the first born-in-game Pleasantview sim
Cute!
The babysitter. She seems capable. Loving the eye color
...and a random shot of a mailwoman. I moved to the Dreamers right after she left the lot.
The guys got a makeover. Dirk's shirt is great for him to blend with the bench.
...suitable choice of topic, Darren. Too bad it's mostly flying over Dirk's head :P
The kid may look like a rebel, but his wild days seem to be over, at least for the moment. He has his own set of priorities, which include eating hamburgers, earning money, dancing, and (thankfully) going to college. Possibly writing homework. And nothing else.
...seriously, I stayed a couple of days with them, he has little interest in anything else, including his poor neglected girlfriend.
The Pleasant women are always around. Daren and Mary-Sue are building a nice friendship, while the girls enjoy shooting hoops in the yard. Also, Darren is a better cook than all three of them combined And John Burb is a fixture in everybody's house
Anyway, Darren is dedicated to his art, and it's finally starting to pay off.
Then, I foolishly intercepted Nina on her morning run and got distracted by a phone call...
Seriously, Darren?
Really?!
Well, I did say I wanted drama
Cassandra came by. They're obviously besties - giggling over a piece of juicy gossip.
However, she firmly rejected his attempts at flirting. Good for her. :P
Darleen doesn't like her son much.
...she spooked him right after So far, she's been ignoring Darren, even though he actually wants to see a ghost.
The next day, the kid's single-minded focus virtually destroyed his social meter.
RAWR!
(of course it was too hard for him to turn around and engagethe crybaby Mary-Sue in a conversation).
This was the culmination.
Thankfully, Lilith set him straight with a well-timed game of red hands.
TBC. I'm planning on finishing my Pleasantview rotation with Don Lothario and the Goths (in that order) before tackling Strangetown.

I always love seeing what people do with the premades. Your game looks like a lot of fun, and I'm interested in seeing what happens with the rest of the sims in your hood!

Is Prometedor a Maxis hood design or custom? I really like it!

Prometedor is a custom vacation subhood. Unfortunately it is corrupted. I had it, but it crashed my game whenever I tried to enter a hotel lot.

AFAIK, unplayable lots do not automatically mean corruption. From the description of the hood here the creators went to great lengths to make it safe. Hood checker doesn't complain. There are no glaring errors and none of my games imploded because of it. One lot did crash on load - once - but I never got around to troubleshooting it, so to be honest, I have no idea whether it's completely unplayable or the game decided to crash for no particular reason (it's been known to happen).
Anyway, it's very much playable. Have some pictures.
Tim Riley and Vivian Cho on honeymoon, IIRC
And Grunts (+ Lyla) goofing off
I don't really know what to say. It works for me, and nothing went up in flames just yet. I do have a full set of corruption-suppressing mods (and then some) in my game, so if there is something wrong with it, I hope that it won't cause me any trouble.

Moving on ...I played through the whole Pleasantview and LFT and started working on Belladonna Cove. I should probably split it into several parts, so here's update #1. As usual, (most of the) pics under the spoiler tags.
I never liked him much. However, in this iteration of Pleasantview he's a huge dork, which makes him really really adorable :D
He got an apartment. The neighbors approve.
A random landlord pic. He's handsome.
He really wanted to go swimming, but chickened out at least 5-6 times He did get in... eventually
He's made of fail.
He and Nina (and Dina) are BFFs. I was expecting ACR to go wild, but they just giggled like schoolgirls over a random piece of gossip.
He's good friends with Brandi Brooke too. The topic of conversation is obviously extremely manly
Yes, honey, YOU are cleaning the table.
RAWRRRR give me FUUUUNNNN dammit! (for some reason, his meter tanked)
So he decided tofail dance...
Um... did you just fall? Literally?
Don: Who? Me? Naaahhhhh
One date with Cassandra later, and he's good to go. The poor thing both wants and fears marrying her. Yet, I'm still on the fence regarding their marriage - we'll see what happens once I get back to them.
Herb and Coral got a nice little house at the outskirts of Pleasantview. However, as soon as they moved in, Herb's dirty joke fell flat. It was enough to make them fall out of love and send him to aspiration failure
Fortunately, the therapist fixed him up in no time.
Two makeovers later...
They'll be just fine
Spoiler: no balls were caught that day
The girls dropped by to say hello. I moved on as soon as I sent them on their way.
Several makeovers later...
Uh, hi, Gretle. You ARE aware that it's still daytime?
I brought Bella back - she was a regular townie, and for some reason I thought it made sense. Now... I'm not so sure.
However, Mortimer and the kids seem happy that she's home.
Gretle disapproves.
Simon was out and about too.
I have no idea why Mortimer complains, floating microwave ovens are all the rage these days
Unlike Don Lothario, Mortimer has some serious moves
BOO!

I love your Sims makeovers, and your hood overall. I like the direction you took with Lothario. His marriage to Cassandra would be rather interesting indeed. I like your hood's aesthetic overall!

I love your mini-megahood. The family makeovers are really good, too.
I also adore Lucy; that mischievous look on her face is priceless.
I was begining to question Don Lothario's sexual orientation, but I guess Cassandra knew better all along.
Good grief; Herb needs to learn how to take things a little easier. His response to a failed joke seems rather extreme.
This was fun to read and I look forward to more.

Thanks, Emperor Crat, lordtyger9 and Cher64! I'm glad you're enjoying the action so far
Cher64, Herb's reaction does seem a bit extreme, but I guess it's been a long time coming. I'm not sure how bad the relationship between them was before I moved them in, but apparently his fear of Coral falling out of love with him was well-founded and it literally took one bad joke for their romance to implode ...however, with a little bit of concentrated effort, they were back on track in no time. Which is good because I really like them together.
Also, my premade kids are all mischievous I have a mod that allows them to generate static electricity anywhere and they love shocking their poor unsuspecting parents Sofia Baldwin did the same thing while I was setting them up.
As for Cassandra and Don - I still don't know. Here's his most recent settings:
So, he does want to marry Cassandra, but also to sow his oats - and his is still Nina. They are on good enough terms for him to go through with the wedding, but I'm not sure that I want to saddle her with him. Also, at this point, I don't want to do anything too drastic to their aspirations - or impose any ACR limitations, - although I just might change Cassandra's to knowledge with family as secondary (and while I'm at it, set her to bi and pair her with eternally young Olive Specter - they'll be a force to reckon with, that's for sure!)
I'm still setting up the hoods (I haven't touched most of the Belladona Cove and Strangetown households yet) so there's not much to show except makeovers - but at least the potential for drama is there. So far I've been playing mostly by following my sims' wishes and trying not to micromanage them to death, but once I do decide to throw a wrench in... *evil cackle* I already messed with their poor little heads by setting everyone without fixed gender preference to low bi ACR, of course, jumped right in It will be fun to watch the drama unravel. But first...
(be warned - there's a bunch of full-size pictures under the cuts)
The girls moved to Pleasantview - I guess the change of scenery was sorely needed, for me at least - I usually set them up next to the Grunts, and I hate that house with a passion. Having a large number of gorgeous Pleasantview houses at my disposal made this decision a lot easier
Nothing interesting happened, except Chloe discovering the drum kit in the basement :D
*recolors it* ...ah, much better! She seems ridiculously happy banging away on it
She's got a gig in the music career track, and she seems eager to go to work. However, her outfit leaves a lot to be desired
Oh, and Lola managed to get the first kiss of both Kristen and Erin
...I didn't expect that particular drama to happen (or them to have no set preference - it's ACR's fault, I swear! ) ...however, I can't wait to see where this is going
They're also the newest residents of Pleasantview. Tarlia's shopping district version of Belladona Cove comes with all apartment-dwellers relocated to sim-bin, so it was easy for me to simply plop them down and combine their households. Timothy and Vivian are three-bolters - it was really a no-brainer.
So here they are in their new home
A wild Ocelot appeared - and got immediately adopted!
Of course, this had to happen at some point...
Then, Etsu grew up...
The parents got hitched at the local church...
...where Etsu amused the visitors by burping into the mic (I didn't know they can do that!)
and Sallytortured dazzled everyone with her masterful piano-playing
*wheeeeeee*
I waited for Etsu to grow up before getting Tim and Vivian married so I can send them on family vacation. It was a perfect opportunity for them to bond and for me to poke around Prometedor (which didn't happen because a certain someone got food poisoning by eating a plate of festering ribs *glares at Sally*.
Anyway, awesome hood is awesome.
Checking in went without a hitch...
...as did their first foray to the beach.
Well, almost.
They went sightseeing...
...and ended up at the end of the pier, which was their final destination for the day.
The scenery was simply breathtaking.
Someone desperately needed a nap (no wonder - she's pregnant ).
The locals seem to have a sort of a love triangle going on, courtesy of ACR
...yup, she immediately regretted the last makeout session
Back at the hotel, the family enjoyed some (more or less) quiet time on the beach.
Postcard-perfect ...loving the new moon default.
*sigh* Etsu was there first, you two!
They spent their last night at the local karaoke bar - which is, again, picture-perfect.
The adults killed it on the stage
Sally was... passable (at least this time nobody complained)
Oh, hey, that grandpa just made the hang loose gesture! GET HIM!
...and please try not to look too drunk while you're at it
I adore this elder. Fortunately, she's immortal, and unless I set my hood on fire somehow, I'll get to enjoy her shenanigans for years to come :D
The last day, someone had a seriously bad time in the hot tub
OW! (that really seems painful - poor thing!)
And with the last passing shot, the family was on their way home!
I know, I know, I spent too much time with them ...but they got a kitten, and Vivian gave birth, and Sally grew up...
It's kitten's fault really, I really wanted to see it grown up
Anyway, they got a new house. I completely misjudged the size of their previous one. And the first thing they did after moving in was to phone the pet adoption center :D
So here's the (too-fashionable-for-work) cop dropping off the newest addition to the household.
...and the new baby - a tiny female named Kim
Ocelot approves! :D
AWWWWWW! *melts*
In other, less interesting news, Vivian gave birth. Here's Mai as a toddler
Ocelot was again a target for an outpouring of love
WEEEEELP!
*I hate you all!*
Nothing exciting happened until it was time for all of them to grow up
So here's Mai as a child.
For a moment there I thought that she was a clone of Etsu. Fortunately, she's not, although they do look alike. She's obviously got Tim's chin.
Sally grew up too
As well as Kim! Awesome kitty is awesome - now I just need to get her and Ocelot to make more kitties...
And since I've hit the character limit for this post, I'll end it here. TBC!

TBC!

That was a great update. I have a certain weakness for critter pictures, as well as family dinner pictures. If I ever get around to posting my own thread, be warned.
The two cats are beautiful. I can't wait to see their kittens.

Great update. I love cats and those cat pictures were really good. I like to take pictures, but i find it hard to catch some of the action sometimes, you did well. Your Sims look good.
Looking forward too seeing pictures of the new kittens.

Curiosity killed the cat,
but satisfaction brought it back.
