I love weddings! I won't pretend I'm super inventive with mine, but I really enjoy throwing them. So far I have had two types of weddings. Community lot wedding at a chapel-type lot I got here on MTS, or backyard weddings. The community lot one is more akin to a registry office wedding, where you don't necessarily have guests, so that's more Sims getting married on the low. Backyard weddings are the more celebratory affairs, with friends and family invited. My hood has a lot of water because I love water, so they tend to be next to the lake in the backyard, or on the beach, or next to the pool if they don't have a lake, or amid trees if there's no water at all.
The best part about weddings is taking pictures, which I then order as picture frames and hang around my Sims houses. So in my core family the three kids all have pictures of their parents wedding in their house, and it always makes me smile when I happen to see it as I'm playing. We have pictures of both my grandparents weddings in our house so it makes me happy to carry on that tradition in my Sims lives.
I'll throw in some pictures, if you are interested you can check em out, if not, you can skip
The lot I use for community lot weddings is from the Woodspell springs neighbourhood, shoutout to Monkaria for the actual build/decoration
I'll try to remember the names of the poseboxes I use in relation to weddings, but that section of my downloads is a tad messy so not sure I'll be able to figure it out. Maybe someone else recognizes the poses and can shed some light Sitting on lap pose | Holding arms from behind pose | Bridesmaid leaning on shoulder pose | Blue dress bridesmaid pose
EDIT: A real must-have for organizing weddings is the sim manipulator, in my opinion. I wouldn't have time to do all the stuff I wanna do and stage photos etc if I had to abide by the regular party timer. Being able to add additional time with sim manipulator is a god-send
Creations can be found on my on tumblr.

This was eons and eons ago, before my whole hood corruption many year rebuild thing so my camera skills were trash But I managed to find an in-game photo of the ceremony setup, and then the staged family photos I took after that they have on the walls. 2nd picture is the bride/groom, their three kids and their sons girlfriend who lived with them. 3rd picture is their kids + sons girlfriend posing on their own.
First to get married in Gen 3 was the youngest, the one whose girlfriend was there for his parents wedding. They did the same style, but in their own backyard. Groom has his parents on the left side, with his grandmother and two sisters in the back row. Bride has her parents and her brother on the right side.
The groom eagerly awaits his brides arrival.
The bride is escorted to the wedding arch by her father.
Applauding the new happy wedded couple
Followeds by all of the family hugs and congratulations. Bride getting a hug from her brother, and groom getting a hug from his father.
Some congratulatory toasts
Followed by a buffet dinner on the patio
And of course the occasional kiss between the happy couple
Rather lame family portrait this time, suspect I was a bit tired of all the staging at that point since I apparently forgot to make the couple cuddle

Sally Mae is one of the kids from my orphanage, and she did not get adopted, so her family is the other kids from the orphanage and the matron. Her husband-to-be has no family, and no friends, and is quite frankly a jerk. They have almost no money, so they opted for community lot wedding, and be grudgingly let her invite the orphanage gang.
He's in the military so military garb for him, and he gifted her a necklace and earrings for the occasion.
So many stray townies/playables. This is why I don't like community lot weddings as much, but still sweet to see her orphanage friends clapping for them.
The venue has a buffet so after the ceremony they grab a bite.
They even managed to make it a roof-raiser.

Another one of the orphanage kids got married there as well, but for him it was a more spartan affair with no friends or family. She wanted his wealth, and he wanted her family name, so they sorta rushed it and his wife isn't too keen about the fact that he's an orphanage kids so she didn't want them there for the ceremony.
The random lot visitors were happy to sit down as witnesses and cheer them on though

Alicia Flex and Henrik Lindström got engaged while on a vacation in the Twikki Islands, right on the beach behind Alicia's vacation home. So they decided to head back there when they were tying the knot. They opted for no family or friends as they are both public figures and neither ever really intended to get married so they wanted a private affair with just the two of them.
Makes for some pretty gorgeous wedding photos.
And who says you can't celebrate even if it's just the two of you? For example a serenade to your lovely bride.
Or a toast
And some cake! No one to laugh at you when your hubby decides to shove the cake in your mouth
Cake on the patio, with a gorgeous view of the ocean
Some ribs for dinner
Topping off the perfect evening with a midnight dip in the ocean

The Indie's also opted for a private affair in their home, because Matte used to be married to gen 3 core family but he tricked her into getting pregnant and faked a prenup and he's in a lot of hot water in terms of his public image after that, so getting married again was best kept quiet. His daughter from previous marriage attended as the bridesmaid, but that's it.
Cake is of course being eaten
Though his wife seems a little less amused by the mouth-shoving than Alicia was
Very pleased with the family photos, I think the combination of pool and snow came out weirdly pretty.
And one of the benefits of a private at-home affair is nobody will judge you for deciding to order pizza for dinner
