I once tried to have a spreadsheet. All it had was the names, I really don't' have the energy or the patience, to write everything down. Kudos to anyone who can

@Bulbizarre - Your database is looking really good. I had been trying to see if I could make something like that with OpenOffice, but I could never figure out how to correlate between tables and forms very well.

I took a look at the file you uploaded in the very start. I was able to take a look at what you did and even got something to work with OpenOffice - except for one of the forms that has a subform in it. (Guess I need to learn that one. )

Anyway before I start to ramble, I was wondering if you would be willing to share you more updated file. (The screenshots are looking really juicy - from an overall point of view.) I would love to be able to test it out and maybe even work it into OpenOffice. (I can't promise anything, @kestrellyn, but I might be able to do it if I have something guiding me.)

@FranH - I was heavily beta testing with Reba with SimTracker 2. We had a lot going with it, but there were a lot of bugs. I never had the source code and I am not where even as good at programming as she was, so I don't even think I could get anything working even if I tried. (I don't even have the program because my gaming computer literally exploded, and I lost everything Sims related. I only now got a new computer, so I am trying to scrap as much I can to get back to where I was with Sims. Some things are just lost. )

Since I got a new computer and installed Windows 10 I moved my spreadsheet over to Excel now because I got an actual honest-to-god MS Office package with my computer, so figuring out how to do charts with OpenOffice Base is no longer really part of my plan. I don't, however, have Access, and I'm not sure I want to actually shell out for it just so I can track sims. What I did find out before I switched was that the chart functionality in OpenOffice Base appears to be broken, so if you want charts you may be out.

Like a few other people in here have said, I don't bother with spreadsheets for TS2; I usually just jot a few notes in a Sim's Bio (usually that Sim's bodyshape, so I won't forget which clothes I need to buy for him or her)...stuff like "Rio / Mad Scientist" or "5 fights w/ Mortimer Goth, W/L: 4/1"...stuff like that. You can easily check certain details in-game (like a Sim's parents, children, One True Hobby, et al), so I don't bother noting those.

But as far as my recently rediscovered love for that old landmark MicroProse RPG, Darklands? Oh, yes...I keep handwritten spreadsheets up one side and down the other, just so I can keep track of all my party's quests in Darklands!

(Would you believe that this is the fifth sheet of paper that I've gone through with my new Darklands party? You can easily rack up dozens of quests in that game, and as wonderful a game as Darklands is, MicroProse didn't provide any in-game menu for keeping track of quests! What else could I do? )

That does count as a spreadsheet, right? :-/

@icemandeaf

Sorry I took so long to get back, but here's an empty version of my current database I sent to someone a while ago: https://simfil.es/1821337/

Notes:
- Most of the stuff you'll be able to enter via form. But use the Neighbourhoods table to enter your main hood/subhood details instead.
- There's a few hidden objects, mostly subforms and queries used for sorting. They're unhidden if you want to poke about. If you want to re-hide them right-click somewhere on the left sidebar and use the checkbox in Navigation options.
- I forgot to change the header of the main form before uploading it. Just use design mode to change "Sims of Oakbrook" to whatever you prefer.
- There's some odd flickering when moving around the form because of the coding tricks I used for it. Wasn't really able to do much about it. Also the "Family" tab in the Sim section is empty because I didn't get around to finishing it.
- Double-click the big empty squares in the form to attach pictures. If you use Chris Hatch's version of SimPE, there's a neighbourhood export there to grab all the sim/family portraits.
- A few of the form details are specific to my own setup (e.g. bank accounts and college funds, take-home salary for the Sim Salary bonus scheme mod, etc).

Made some family trees in MS Paint just to help me keep track of generations in the hood. But I don't know if I saved it.

Default New Version of Excel Records Template
I uploaded it to the Discord server and to Sim File Share. Here it is: http://www.simfileshare.net/download/2132259/

You can make any changes you want, as it is open source. It's Bulbasaur's Excel template that I made lots of additions to. Some pages are huge and many of the ones where you enter records have freeze panes so you can navigate without losing your bearing. Everything's optional, and it's still a work-in-progress. Suggestions and critiques are welcome, and if anyone wants to turn it into an application, that would be cool.

For the Zodiacs, I've listed the attracted to and repelled by for easy reference. Might look a bit herky-jerky. I've made a few formulas and the like - especially for the pages where you unlock objects. The Hood Stats page is for recording numbers of various items, sims in certain high positions, etc. The Locked Items Settings page is where you can adjust the numbers required for unlocking items. I'm planning on making a few adjustments, like possibly making certain numbers equal the Locked Items settings numbers and make changing the settings more convenient.

Here's mine. My game likes to crash if I minimize to desktop too much so I went the route of a handwritten spreadsheet. It's about 10 front back pages atm, but I've just turned my Pleasantview into a megahood with Strangetown and Veronaville so all those sims added quite a lot.

The base is from Pleasantsims, the blank one she has on her website, modified to get rid of things I don't care to track.

And then I'll write little notes to remember down at the bottom or at the top. And it's on another page atm but I've got a sticky note reminding me what day/time to stop the family I'm on.
Since there's about 50 houses in my rotation now I keep in a checklist on my phone, so I can just check and uncheck at the end of each house so I don't forget the order. Am almost done with round 7.

Beta-4 of my edit of Bulbizarre's Excel template is UP! http://www.simfileshare.net/download/2136212/

In this version, I squashed some bugs, made a few adjustments, and added dynamic labels to the "Locked Items" sheets. Except for the white fields, just enter any activity or changes to your hood in the "Hood Stats" sheet, while you can change the requirements and labels by changing the white fields in the "Locked Item Settings" sheet. Let me know if there are any other bugs or suggestions. Remember, this is an open-source project so you are welcome to change it to suit your playstyle. My style of aspiration-rolling and other restrictions may be *very* different from yours, so customize it as you please. Critiques and feedback are encouraged!

I've borrowed heavily from other spreadsheets as to the data I want to see in mine. One thing I did do (because apparently I'm a sucker for punishment) is spend waaaaay too much time coming up with graphs to see my neighbourhood stats at a glance. Probably unnecessary, but I was practising making things in Excel and thought it was kind of cool. (Currently blank as I'm starting a new 'hood.)

Another bug-fix for my Bulbizarre Template Edit: http://www.simfileshare.net/download/2143397/ - fixed a bug in the burninate calculator. Should calculate the proper burninate percentage now.

My most used sims sheet is for my TOT neighbourhood.
This was the last version of the Neanderthal spreadsheet before we moved onto roman

This is a list of all the sims in the neighbourhood, their parents, genetics, personality, aspiration, sexuality, birthday, death day and cause of death

And this is used for matchmaking purposes. A lot of colour coding going on

So, I've finished upgrading my sims spreadsheet to a Notion spreadsheet, now. Notion is a kind of online database-esque organizational tool. It's more limited than an actual honest-to-god SQL database, but you can actually do some fairly complex stuff with it with a little creativity. The main thing I feel is missing is statistical charts, but I've heard that you can do that with a third-party plugin of some sort, and also that Notion itself might include this in the future.

Anyway, here is a read-only view of my sims setup now:
https://www.notion.so/bd54de1960c24...3ed4c2fd5195a2b (There are seven different views of this table, if you click on "Basics", and if you click "Open" next to the sim name, or on any of the sim links, it opens a page with that sim's information in it)
https://www.notion.so/ad8b28b013244...5bbfaf270489740
https://www.notion.so/2699c79591314...082cb70cbd9d86b
https://www.notion.so/abe33f9dcc184...612777d22fa935c

The links between sims, families, and households all keep themselves up to date on both tables - if I add a last name or a household to a sim, they appear in the list of members of the family or household on the other tabs. There are some hidden properties that don't appear in any of the views that make some of the calculations work.

It seems fabulous @Bulbizarre ! Does it import sims datas exported from SimPE (because Chris Hatch has updated the exporter).

Edit :Which software is needed to open it ?

I believe in the "Thanks" button and its amazing powers !!!

This is a fascinating thread. I don't track my regular neighborhood stats like this, but I do have a spreadsheet for my BACC, one for my Sims 3 Apocalypse/Nothing is Free mashup, and one for keeping track of my default replacements.

That is such a fascinating tool...too bad it's on-line connected, although there is a download for PC in the site.
