In an attempt to help any and all players on Mac get their fullest experience, I am making this thread to show how a Mac user can play TS2 easily and with no hiccups on their very own machine:

I myself have a Macbook Pro early 2015 Retina. This should work on any device that meets the graphical and performance requirements of the game.

What you'll need:

Mac with at least 80 ish GB free space
Windows 8 key
Origin account
USB


Windows 8 key?

Yes. This method will be using bootcamp. Before you get concerned about spending money and time on buying Windows, let me refer you to this (totally legal, and legitimate) windows store on Reddit. I bought my copy for 20 USD. They are very kind and professional over there. (this is by no means an advertisement)

Basically how you do this is PM the poster of the thread, Mevelt and ask them for a key purchase. They will then ask you how you would like to pay. i.e. Paypal (What I used to ensure safe transaction) debit, credit, etc... They should respond fairly soon after you message them.

Once you have your key, You will then need to journey over to microsoft to download a free ISO file. You enter your newly purchased key in to verify, and download. (usually takes around an hour)

Depending on your model of Mac, You may have to utilize a USB. With the newer models, you do not. Chances are if you have a mac thats older than 2014 you will need to. No big deal as I did this with my sister's game as well. All you have to do it place the ISO file into the USB and you're set. IF you have a newer device, such as mine simply leave the ISO on your desktop

Once you have your ISO file completely downloaded, go to spotlight search on the top right of your screen. (magnifying glass) search for bootcamp assistant. Once this opens, it will ask you how you would like to bootcamp. If you need to use a USB, select "create download disk" this will use your USB (with ISO inside) to download windows onto. If you don't need to use a USB, the ISO should be already selected as seen below.

The program will then ask you how much you would like to "partition". This is just asking how many GB you would like to give to windows. I allocated 45GB from my measly 100, however this is the MINIMUM I would recommend, depending on if you will use CC/SC4.

Let bootcamp assistant do the work. This could take an hour or two. Relax, drink some coffee (or booze) and hang out in the forums or watch your favorite TV show.

Once bootcamp is completed you will see an image like this:



Select your language, etc...It will then ask for your windows 8 key. This is the one you purchased from Reddit. Enter it in and Windows 8 will proceed to install.

VERY IMPORTANT

You MUST select custom install rather than express! When this pops up, You will see that it asks for you to choose what disk windows will be installed on. There should be one with the amount of GB you partitioned. Select this, and proceed.

Once it is complete, You will do minor setting up. Such as colors, user name, etc...

You now have Windows 8 on your Mac!

What now?

How to get TS2:

Make your way to internet explorer, download Origin, if you have the Complete collection, proceed to install. If not, go ahead and click on the link below. This will take you to an origin live chat with a help specialist. Explain to them that you have the sims 2, and how you would like a Complete Collection code. They might ask for your TS2 base game key, or for you to email them a picture of your game so they can verify that you actually purchased it, but they will add it to your library.

Final changes still need to be made!

Go back to MacOS by simply shutting down your machine and then powering it on. right after you click the power button to turn it on, press and hold the ALT/Option key. A black screen will show up asking if you would like to use Windows or OSX. Use the arrow keys to select OSX and click enter. You will not have to do this every time you want to open Mac. This is just because for if you didn't hold down ALT, it would by default take you to Windows OS.

Let's change the default startup back to OSX...

Make your way to system preferences. Then choose the option "startup disk" select Macintosh OSX, and you're all set! Now whenever you power your computer on, it will automatically open OSX.

How do I get back to Windows?

Every time you want to play TS2, You will unfortunately have to restart your computer. This is the one downside to bootcamping. Power your machine off, then power on. Right away press and hold ALT and select Windows with the arrow keys and press enter. You will then see Windows load, and can play TS2 and all of its packs! It is as simple as restarting, holding alt, and selecting your OS when you want to play. It may sound daunting, but I do it multiple times each day flawlessly!
