Thank you, I never really thought about how ugly the pond water is, but now compared to yours it's obvious LOL, the only hard part is choosing the color I want!

Thank you so much for this. My pond water tends to look more like the picture you have called ice, with perhaps a little more blue-gray thrown in. Where I live, ponds are a greenish color, because of the algae and stuff. This will make them more realistic. Again thank you.

Hey Targa, I *think* I might know the answer to the small problems you mention are.
Let me screw around and if I'm correct I'll PM you with something I've been working on.

From what people have been saying, yes it does.

@GunMod: Let me know what you find out.

Ok, Targa, Open the Sims2 material.package and look at the following shader:

Maxis Material Shader: 0xCD7FE87A - 0x9C954B3C - 0x1C0532FA - 0xFF226023

I *think* if you modified the shader settings here that this will modify the "pond" water transparency, reflectivity , and so forth.

Sorry if you were already aware if this, just trying to help.

There is also another water shader in this package but I think it deals with moving water (fountains etc)

One note of the code that might be what you want:
# Material for terrain geometry that is partially or completely under water.

If the underwater terrain is slightly different then the "water color" will change as well.

That one is the neighborhood view water. I have all the Material Shaders extracted and have been poring over them for the last 4 days. I'll send you a PM, I need to ask you something anyway.

The reason I asked about the video cards is because the programmer at maxis who wrote the shader for lot water knew (or suspected at least) that it wouldn't work right on some systems. There's a comment he added to the code, "Does this even work?" lol.

Thanks Targa!
I was sick of the ugly neon blue water!
Hmm.
If the ice water works in NH View, then why not take a look at what makes it work, and apply it to the others?

Thank you soo much! I asked about something like this a really long time ago, and no one even replied to my thread... I am really glad to see that there really was some interest in doing this,THANK YOU- that glowing color was getting on my nerves...

could I request something a little bit reddish, as if the water had a lot of iron in it?

Actually I quite like the swimming pool water as it is - for a swimming pool. Though it would be better if it didn't actually light itself up unless you put one of those lights into it.

Hmm. Some pool hacks would be great. I'd like clear water, cos the water should only seem blue because of the tiling!
