I discovered that cc eyeshadow is my friend. It won't switch to random, ugly Into The Future styles or other unwanted styles when you have your sim change clothes. And I can even get multi-channel designs which are so cool and often just what I was looking for anyway. I tend to be rather light on cc, but cc eyeshadow (and possibly other makeup) is a must.

I learned to go easy on the graphics settings. I may have better hardware now, but more is not always better!
I had been fiddling about the graphics sliders and I must have forgotten to put things back the way they were. Imagine my horror when I next loaded up my game and saw the whole horizon in Moon Valley breaking up into a sort of heat haze (rather like the mirage effects you see in the desert) and distant objects and buildings looking as though they were melting. I thought something serious had gone wrong with the game, or with the computer.
The culprit turned out to be visual effects slider. which I usual have set to low, but I had it turned up full. Once I turned it down to medium things returned to normal. Phew, panic over!
The moral: if things are working okay, DON'T fiddle with them!

I just had the "Shoo Peeping sim" interaction for the first time since 2009. Unless I've forgotten.

My sim went to the dance club in Bridgeport, driving a red Mustang. It was parked outside in the parking lot. At a certain point I realized as sims came and went the car eventually disappeared. My sim was still at the club. Did he just get carjacked?

Well it actually happened a week or two ago, but I found out that James Iha writes music for The Sims franchise now. That's so cool!

If you have Late Night, the University lot types that match the 3 social groups (rebel hangout, bowling alley, and comic book store) all have happy hours. You know, in case you want to have a rave themed comic book store.

That I should provide all the vampires in my town with umbrellas.
My sims was busking in front of the grocery store and had quite an audience. Unfortunately, the four vampires among them caught on fire and died before anyone could put them out. Sims screaming and fainting all over, even the Grim Reaper passed out for a moment, my sim peed herself, it was carnage!

I discovered that I forgot almost everything since I haven't played the game for quite a while. Today, I decided to reinstall it and I was not even sure which DLCs I used to install and which I did not. (The only things I did remember was that University was quite a mess at the end and that I did not like the futuristic stuff at all. Oh, and that Katy Perry stuff is a must.) So I installed everything except the futuristic DLC and started the game.
The vanilla game runs fine. I have two sets of mods, a small one that I obviously made the last time I ran the game (no idea why; it has essential Twallan and a few other mods) and the big one with all the stuff I used to use, including some from sites long gone. The small one causes no problems but the big one crashes the game.
I know what to do now, more or less, but I wonder if there are any programs that can find outdated/corrupt mods? Or if you have any other advice?

I've done this accidentally a few times in the past but didn't pay much attention to what I pressed to get it to happen until recently, like yesterday. To quickly copy any held object in buy/build mode press shift-ctrl click. Now I'm going to this command to memory because it's useful for its quickness than going the CASt route for items that will have the same appearance such as windows, beds, chairs, etc.

To continue my saga: my Sim writer could not self employ. I did everything I could think of, nothing worked. Finally I googled the problem and on this forum, I found a thread from 2011, started by someone with the same problem, and in it an answer by qpldmff - "You have Ambitions, right? Just checkin'." Blood froze in my veins, I screeched to the game directory and no, although I thought I installed all the EPs, Ambitions was not there.
I think I would not have made this mistake in 2011, but years have passed and ...

workaholic sim doesn't like being asked about their alma mater, me wonder why? the wiki doesn't say anything about it.

I find it interesting, if I'm in a mood to PLAY a Sims game, I'm much more inclined to launch TS1 or TS3, but for creating things I'm 100% more likely to launch TS2... It just seems like there's more to the PLAY side of things here somehow!

Not sure I understand, are you implying the world is too hot or too cold? I take it the icecream toping is melting, implying it is too hot? Because you know much of North America and even Asia right now is going through a historical cold snap. Not to mention the arctic ice is at an all time growth in recent decades.
Bottom line is, if you're getting disagrees is because people play sims, much like they watch movies, for entertainment to get away from these political issues and debates.

Exactly. What's more, those slactivists have to stop virtue signalling because it's getting boring.
"People who don't have their houses in order should be very careful before they go about reorganizing the world. People have things that are more within their personal purview that are more difficult to deal with and that they are avoiding and that generally the way they avoid them is by adopting pseudo-moralistic stances on large-scale social issues so that they look good to their friends and their neighbours" Jordan Peterson

I discovered that items thrown at singers, magicians or acrobats during their performacnces show up in their inventories. It means I can cook mac and cheese from the items my sim picks up from the stage lol.
If I lived on Mars, I would be pleased because the Earth is not my cup of tea

Sometimes a popsicle is just a popsicle. And being all moralistic is rather boring these days. As for melting ice caps, there's a peculiar thing about water: When it freezes, its unique polar molecular structure crystalizes in such a way that it expands. Therefore, ice has more volume than the same amount of water. It's possible that there would be more land available for both farming and feeding animals on earth if the ice caps melted than if they were to stay frozen. Also, we are still living in an ice age.

Better shame on global market Global market is one of the source of pollution, source of poverty and source of relocalisation, Shame of the international industries which made greenwashing to hide their pollution. Why ecofriendly people never tell the Truth for a time. Shame on our West governements to be always for the lobbies of these firms that kills our planet , to keep the economy alive.
Well if so, I love the graffito.

For now I am finished to redo my town because I didn't like my current save and I start from 0.

I've learned that creating distant terrains is really not that difficult once you know some basics of Blender and Milkshape. Really, there needs to be more of these awesome cc distant terrains.

why does this casino sign look like an octopus? do octopuses love playing blackjack or something?

The octopus ('la piovra'), especially if it's blue, is the symbol of Mafia (organized crime) - maybe because its tentacles reach everywhere. To put it on a casino building can be no coincidence, it's a universally spread rumor that casinos are typical locations of money laundering.

I hadn't realised till now that if you delete a lot that has spawners on it they often get left behind. I was trying out various lots in an empty world I've been developing and it just so happened that I had buydebug turned on. So when I placed one of my own builds on what I thought was an empty lot I was shocked by the number of spawners there were. There were fish spawners, bug spawners, meteor spawners - you name it. Surely I hadn't placed all those!
Well, actually, it turns out I did. Because I remembered that I'd earlier had my Darke Towers lot placed there, before changing my mind and deleting it. And not only does that lot feature a swamp and a cemetery, but the Darkes have also been practicing a lot of alchemy over the years. And that, as I've recently learned, causes a lot to get rather crowded with spawners. It is no wonder it became so laggy on my old laptop! I've now installed this mod:https://modthesims.info/download.ph...4&cb=1672795078 to stop that happening in future.
But, thinking back, I think that even if you delete a lot entirely, the spawners will still be there. Because I remember deleting a scrap yard one time, and for a long time afterwards random items of garbage kept appearing where it had been. Some of them were a devil to get rid of.
