I just got mine down to around 7,000 and 1.5 gig. Ideally I like to have no more than 5,000 files but it's so hard to choose what to get rid of! I also have a habit of getting all kinds of random misc items from the many houses I download. The game runs so much smoother with less custom content but I have a very difficult time in figuring out what I can live without.

Wow. I thought I had a lot and I only have 404 megs!

This is the message it gave me. I keep on forgetting to move my games to my other hard drive. *smacks forehead*

8448 files and that is approx 2gig, that doesn't seem a lot but I only have 6gig free space left on my pc, i don't know how that works, I was sure sims was taking up a lot of memory?!?!

I have a lot of custom content in my game, mainly body shop stuff and it lags my game so much.
#32 Old 25th Jul 2007 at 5:50 PM
i just discovered the joy of custom content a couple of weeks ago, so i don't have very much: 625 files, 285 mbs. at the moment, it's mostly body shop stuff... i love clothes! (it's just like shopping... but for your sims!)

I'm sitting at 15410 packages, 6.22 GB. Not counting downloaded lots. I got it down from 21000ish packages by purging stuff I've not used

20866 files, 55 folders, 6.65 GB. This includes all the preview images, webpages, and manuals that came with all those things.

I thank the 2GB RAM I have on this computer...it's the only saving grace for an otherwise crappy processor and graphics card .

I have 652 MB and 1596 folders as of right now. But since I download a little too much, it might be a few more MB by the end of the day.
#38 Old 26th Jul 2007 at 8:48 PM

4.9 gigs, 17,000 or so files.

my data drive is FAT32 so it got pissed when I made the downloads folder more than 4 gigs. now I have a subfolder for continuing to download. -_-;;

someday I might purge stuff but it'd be hard as I am not in any way organized.

by the way this downloads folder is the same one since I got TS2 in 2004. I haven't had to reinstall a single time (even with all that CC and every EP), so there is some extremely old stuff in there too.

Right now, ive only got 6 gigs, but my husband just bought me a new video card, and a hard drive for my game and downloads only. so that'll bring it way way up!!!

I honestly have a huge array of different downloads. I do have way to many walls and floors though.

2.29 gigs.
4,992 items - 81 of which are folders

I have more pages of custom hair and clothes than pages of EA.Maxis hair and clothes, clothes for Teens, YAs and Adults though I'm sure if you added up those pages it would total more than all the pages of EA/Maxis clothes. *laugh*
I also have a lot of different makeups, face-masks (for freckles and piercings mostly) and the Accessories (Ren's elf ears and re-colours, turban and acc, earrings - all from Ren)

I have a little over 8200 downloads and a lot of it is plants (both indoors and outdoors), paintings, hairstyles and almost everything from Holysimoly! =) I clean my downloads folder about once a month from stuff I never use, and I think it's about time I do it again. I do have enough space for them though, I just takes a little longer to load. I can't imaging going back to no cc now.
#44 Old 28th Jul 2007 at 8:31 PM
850 files

I thought it would be worlds worse

I have about 50 different folders in my downloads folder. I have 4.21 gigs and 9,606 files. :D
#49 Old 31st Jul 2007 at 12:00 AM
It's 2.11 gigabytes right now, but I'm in the process of cleaning. I constantly keep downloading more content though... So I assume it won't ever go too much below ~2 gigs.

None! After a year of searching for the "perfect downloads" to make my game, well, perfect I realized I wasn't playing anymore. At all. I spent so much time building and rebuilding and making sims that were perfect for breeding and downloading this mod and that mod and just generally planning what my game would be like when I was done that I didn't play at all. And just a few days ago it dawned on me that I have no idea what I was working towards, I was just working.

So, naturally, I zipped up my downloads folder and uninstalled everything -that's all expansion packs and all stuff packs- and reinstalled only the base game. And you know what? I'm having fun.

I'm thinking of reinstalling the packs one by one, spread out over a few weeks so I can get reacquainted with them. I hear a lot of simmers say, "I couldn't live without CC," but if you love this game chances are you can!
