I have similar problems. CC seems to slow down the game unreasonably. I wonder if it is the kind of CC (hairs for example) or the fact that I have all CC as .packages in the mod-folder, nothing installed with the launcher. Does anyone knows if lots of CC installed with the launcher is better/faster then having it in mod-folder as packages?

Also I wonder if my PC is strong enough to handle the Sims. Is my graphic card really this outdated? (t feels quite new to me).

Your computer is plenty strong enough to play the game. I don't think that's the problem. We can try updating drivers to see if that helps, but I doubt it. Did the CC that you have always make the game lag or only with the new expansion?

Try installing these:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_186.18_whql.html

Also, you haven't the complete form, but if you tell us the manufacturer and model of your computer we can track down chipset drivers.

Thanks, Callistra, for your answer. I follow your advice and will test further. Are all infos now available in system info? I didn't know that there's an update for chipset drivers. The last time I updated graphic drivers, Sims 3 wouldn't start anymore.

I did not install WA yet, I just updated with the latest patch (with all CC, mods etc. removed), cleared all caches, and put just half of it back (no mods, just objects, hairs, patterns), and the game lags...

Did the game lag before you patched? A lot of people have been complaining about the new patch and/or WA causing lagging. I haven't seen any fixes yet for those who have experienced this.

Yeah, the newest Nvidia drivers are bad news. But the ones I linked to are the newest stable ones. I'm having a hard time tracking down the correct motherboard drivers for what you have listed so just stick to the directx + Nvidia 186 drivers above.

No, it ran quite nice with Awesomemod and a lot (more than 1 GB) of CC installed. Sometimes it took a while before all textures were loaded, but all in all it's been O.K. Loading times at starting were acceptable too. Now I have no mods, a third of CC and it's slower than before (with lower settings). Without any content and the mods-folder deleted it's been allright, but playing without mods an no CC is not what I want. Thanks for your help so far, I've installed the drivers and go off testing (loading the game takes a much longer time now).

You may just need to sort through your cc and see if you can narrow it down to a few things that are causing the lag. If you are narrow it down, feel free to let us know. Maybe it will help other people with this problem.

No further help needed (give yourself a break, you are working too hard here these days!), just to let you know.

So, what I did: I deleted nearly all of my dl in mod-folder (.packages), except default skins, eyes and a few body meshes, Jonha sliders and the no-mosaic-mod. I only left 33 MB in the mod-folder. Then I installed all the Store-Content, except a few clothes and hairs, with the launcher. In my documents...downloads I have now 265 MB of stuff, that's about the size I had in .packages before.

Game loads fast, textures load fast, runs like hell (fresh game for testing).

It seems to me that the patch did something to the game, so that CC in .packages is possibly not tolerated very good by the game. I will put more SIMS3.Packs in downloads to see if the lagging comes back, but so far the same size of downloads in the mod-folder made my game unplayable, when installed via the launcher, it ran quite fast.
