Will this let me install .sims3packs since Macs seem incapable of doing so right now?

Could we have more information about this please? =)
Does it just install framework, or will it install actual cc?

:)

I ran it but the folders didn't seem to show up? It doesn't look like anything happened?

Did you already have the Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 folders in your Documents folder??

This is the simplest phase I could provide... I will be working on giving this a wider scope. But as it says, it installs the FOLDERS and the new Resource.cfg file.

I have updated the information to reflect the fact that this installs into your Users/<username>/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 file.

Aha! Found them! Thank-you. I don't know why but I appear to have two documents folders. A side effect of shifting my old hard-drive onto the new mac. Are you supposed to keep the mods inside the game directory as well?

Now that i've found the folders it works great, except that I have to keep the files in both the new place and the old one to make them work, though I don't think that is a fault of this program, just my game (if it's a fault that is) because my game has decided to be a pain lately.

Thankyou!

I can easily install all .sims3packs, if you're referring to downloading them off a site like the official sims 3 site, you should probably save first instead of downloading straight to game, because that's where I run into problems.

From past experience with some of the Sims 3 utility programs with mono - this could be an age old Windows to Unix problem - UNIX IS CASE SENSITIVE!!!

It's kind of funny how some programs want them to be named '.Sims3Pack' and some programs want them to be named '.sims3pack'. Maybe the game itself has similar issues!!
(You can use Automator to make an 'app' that will change the file names all at once for you... or you could pinch mine details at the bottom of this post:
http://mactasticsims3.wordpress.com...ls-work-on-mac/)

Of course, I download anything not official straight to my downloads folder, then it gets moved to my 'Backup' folder, and then copied into the Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Downloads folder, and then installed with my launcher
Unless I want to crack it open with Delphy's extractor and then moosh it back up into one (or less...archive!) packages with s3pe....

I can't install anything and I've run into a couple other people who've been having the same problem. But my computer seems to be completely incapable of installing a .sims3pack. From anywhere.

I used to be able to install a couple at a time, relaunch the launcher, repeat. Then the install window would come up, but stay black, then it just stopped coming up and froze up my game, now it tells me I have a service initialization failure.

I tried using this... I removed my Mods and Resource file from the old spot (it wouldn't let me install it with them there), but I left the "d-file" (whatever it's called, you use it for hacks and it's a group of letters) alone in my Game/Bins. I made sure to have my Sims 3 folder in my Documents. Everything seemed fine, I run it and get an error about "postflight script".

Help? :/

the d3dx9thing? You don't need that any more.
In fact.... that can cause you issues!!!

Is your documents folder in your Users/username directory??? That's where this works. You might find there is another Documents folder in your Macintosh HD folder
Someone else got a bit mixed up there.
Are the folders in there? There is only one 'postflight script' in the installer, and that is supposed to open up the newly created files in your finder. I've had some issues with that one LOL.
Is the new mods folder there??

3.3.11.006001

I'm hoping when the copy of Ambitions I ordered arrives, it'll work again.

Thanks so much for making this and sharing it. I installed it and it went right through. The mod I tested worked great -- showed up right where it was supposed to do so! Thanks for making this so idiot-proof.

I keep getting the "the following install step failed: run postflight script..." message, too. I deleted the little d3d guy.
Any ideas?

I've never had a problem installing sims3packs on my Mac, whether it's just one or 21. And now the framework patch makes installing package files even easier. It works great with OS 10.6.4 and Ambitions. Thanks a bunch. Now if I could just find a way to edit tuning files on a Mac I'd be one happy gal!

tuning files editing on mac - easy!!!
I haven't been able to make S3OC work well enough to do paintings and stuff yet, but you only need S3PE and a code editor to do tuning files!!!

http://www.mactasticsims3.com/tutorials/tuningmod, which isn't a full tutorial, but links to a tutorial on this site and tells you what you have to do differently to make it work on mac
(although I just re-read the original tutorial here, and if you wait a little while I will re-write it on my site to make it easier to follow

also, check out my other tutorials for mac stuff:
