Moodlet Mayhem - a Sims 3 challenge
MOODLET MAYHEM - A Sims 3 Challenge by RavynLeeBourdon
SUMMARY
I’ve found lately my games have become rather boring and repetitive (through no one’s fault but my own). Still, I feel as though I still haven’t really experienced all the things the game has to offer. I don’t have the patience for Legacies, but love the concept of ‘realism’ even if that’s a tad repetitive and mundane. After looking for a suitable challenge I decided to try my hand at making one of my own.
The premise is simple; you’re aiming to get the most out of one Sim’s lifetime by keeping score of their moodlets, both good and bad, and hopefully discover a few things in the game you may not have seen or done yet. Probably doesn’t sound like a challenge, but if you’re a cheat addict like me... well, let’s just say that’s the plan anyway.
Please note, this is NOT the same as The Epic Sims 3 Moodlet Challenge as seen here:
HERE. Where that challenge incorporates a family of four, this challenge takes a much broader approach.
GOALS:
• Live the most fulfilled Sim life as possible.
• Carry your Sim through as many life stages as you can.
• The more you do, the more you achieve, the more places you go the more fulfilling your Sim’s life and the more points you score!
• The game ends when your chosen/original Sim dies.
• You do not have to but can document highlights (take pictures) of your Sim’s journey through life.
SETUP:
• Set time span to whatever you wish (but keep default settings for the span you choose).
• Make a sim (sim self?) Traits, LTW, look can be anything. CC personal choice.
• Move your Sim into a house. It can be wherever you wish (as Beautiful Vista moodlet does not count towards tally and you won’t be able to afford a mansion to start anyway).
• Play the game.
• Keep an eye on UI and count moodlets as they occur in game.
SCORING:
• For every positive moodlet you get, you score 1+ point.
• For every negative moodlet you lose -1 point.
• Moodlets are tallied as you play. You only count each moodlet once as they appear in your UI.
• For Moodlets that last longer than 24 Sim hours, you add +1 for every Sim day it is current (for example, Best friend 2 Sim days = 1 point per day while that moodlet is visible, equaling 2 points total for that particular moodlet)
• Neutral moodlets [-] (such as Beautiful Vista, Bubbles, etc) are NOT counted, regardless what colour (red/green/blue) they are.
• You ONLY count the moodlets of your chosen/original Sim. If they have children/get married/adopt etc you do NOT count anyone else’s moodlets, but what they do can and may possibly affect your Sim’s score (such as getting Married, Great Woohoo or Rejected for Kiss moodlet, etc).
• If you achieve your Sim’s Lifetime Wish you score a bonus 1000 points to your overall total at the end of the game.
For those that wish to use it, I created a spiffy little scoring card in word doc that can be found
HERE (instructions included):
(An example of one to assist should you need it can be found here:
HERE)
RULES:
• You can only play the house of your Chosen Sim for the duration of the challenge.

• Set life span to short or normal.
• Give your Sim random or negative traits.
• For every skill mastered earn 10+ points.
• For every Opportunity you successfully complete you earn 5+ points.
• For every Opportunity you accept but fail you lose -5 points.
• For every long term friend you have at end of game you earn 10+ points (reverse for Mean Spirited Sims).
• For every enemy you have at the end of your game you lose -10 points (reverse for Mean Spirited Sims).
THE GAME ENDS WHEN:
• You are turned into an Occult State (vampire, mummy etc).
• Your original Sim dies for any reason (ideally old age).
ADDITIONAL:
It’s worth noting that it can be difficult to remember which moodlets you’ve counted and which you haven’t, especially if you have a lot of them. It can also be distracting watching the moodlet bar instead of paying attention to Sim’s needs. I guess in that way it is a challenge in the truest sense of the word. After a Sim week’s worth of play testing I can say so far that while it takes some getting used to it does take me back to basics which is something I’ve missed with my usual cheat addiction etc. I recommend having a pen and paper handy or a word document window open as I did to keep track of your progress as it happens in game. Just a suggestion.
FYI so far my score so far Sim-week 1 = 35 points.
Let us know what you think. If you have any questions, just ask. Good luck.
