This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, Nightlife, Pets, Seasons
Default Is it possible to extract objects from a lot?
Is there any way to extract a specific object from a lot package?

Background: During troubleshooting of an unrelated issue, I moved a family out of their original home and into another. I thought I'd gotten everything into their inventories, but I missed something that can't be recreated: a portrait of the family's founding members painted by their son. Of course it was sold when I moved them out.

Happily, I have a backup of the hood and lot from before the move. Unhappily, I can't locate the painting in the .package. All I see in the OBJT and XOBJ tables in SimPE is a lot of generic entries.

Is there any way I can extract the painting to a new .package and place it in my downloads? PLEASE?

I just turned off my development machine for the day, so this may not be quite right. If it isn't, let me know and I'll answer tomorrow.

The painting is stored in a TXTR record within the lot package. You can extract the record. I'm not quite sure how to get it back into your new lot, but you'll have the main thing that you need.

My suggestion would be to paint a new picture and swap the images.

Success! I copied the texture .png into the Paintings folder (parallel to Downloads, Neighborhoods, etc) and set one of the kids to repaint it with the Custom Painting option on the easel.
