Default Getting lots to line up with a road
Hi, I'm having trouble getting my lots to line up with the road. I'm trying to get the new lot to face the road without it being crooked. Does this happen to anybody else? How do you fix this?

You can turn the grid on, place the road, then place the lot.

With the grid on, the road and lot will snap into place perfectly.

Actually I'm dealing with a downloaded world that already has roads formed. I can't get a lot line up with a road that curves.

You must be in the in game editor, and not caw. If memory serves, you can hit the alt + shift key, or the ctrl + shift key, something like that and the lot will rotate.

I think you can hold down alt and drag the lot to fine tune the placement in addition to what auntielynds said.

There is much to be said at keeping your roads at fixed angles to the greatest extent possible. Namely, it probably behooves a world designer to keep roads at 45 degree intervals. The reason for this is that while it is possible to have lots at any angle in CAW, the same is not true for lots placed with the in game editor. The in game editor limits lot placement to 45 degree angles.

If you are planning on uploading your world for others to play, you really should be making it easy to for gamers to modify your world. Say you place a 29 x 29 lot along a road. You do this because you think prime numbers are cool. (I kid you not. Some world builders really seem to like prime numbers when it comes to lot sizes.) But a gamer wants to remove your 29 x 29 lot and replace it with a 30 by 30 lot. So he bulldozes you 29 by 29 lot. But when he tries to place his own 30 x 30 lot, he finds that your road was placed at a 37 degree angle (because you love prime numbers). His lot won't line up right. The gamer curses under his breath, calls you an idiot, and permanently deletes your world from his game.

Actually, if you hold down the alt key you can rotate any lot to any angle. not just 45 degrees.

I agree, that's what I meant by my post above, although I didn't make myself very clear. Basically, if you hold the alt key then you have the same movement range with lots (in world editor) as you would with furniture in-game.

Thanks. That's worth knowing. I will save me a lot of grief.
