Default Resolved: Is it safe to delete neighborhoods/subhoods?
Hey! I'm about to do a fresh install and was wondering if it's safe to delete neighborhoods and/or sub hoods using the delete button provided by EA? I will be using a megahood from Tarlia.
I.E. I won't want to play Bluewater Village or Desiderata (sp) Valley.

Thanks!

I used to rar or zip up any neighborhoods before deleting them and would backup my favorite family's before making changes.

Tarlia's megahood is modular - you download each neighborhood separately, load the subhoods into the correct place, and choose the ones you want.

If you want the characters but not the maps, add the subhood, make sure that all graves are transferred to locations in one of the neighborhoods you're keeping, or are in the inventory of a family member, and that all owned businesses are sold. You can then delete the subhood safely, and the families will appear in your Family bin.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

Deleting an entire neighborhood is perfectly safe and won't cause any issues. If you are deleting subhoods, there are a few things to consider:

- All families in that subhood will be automatically moved to the family bin.
- If the subhood is a college, all students in the college will be moved to the Student Bin and can be moved into another college. The won't allow you to delete the college if it's the only one left.
- This is the important part - If you have dead Sims in the subhood, make sure you move them into a hood that is NOT being deleted before you delete the subhood!

Thanks everyone! Question again:
Tarlia's instructions on her LJ page make sense to me mostly. However, I have been unable to locate the cleaned up template instructions on MATY that Tarlia said are to be followed upon install. Also, I must install at least one Uni town, one Downtown (I think you're only supposed to have one downtown anyway according to Tarlia), & one Shopping District from Tarlia, correct?

You don't have to have one Uni, one Downtown and one Shopping District. You can pick the ones that you want to attach to your main 'hood, or not have any attached if that's what you prefer. I play a 'hood with no attached vacation destinations, shopping districts, uni's or Downtown and as far as I'm aware that's not a problem.

I thought deleting neighborhoods were bad, is it safe to delete custom hoods and not maxis made ones?

It's perfectly all right to delete custom hoods. It's sims that you're not supposed to move from one hood to another, (without the megahood) or delete.

Those two scenarios always lead to corruption.
