I'm still sad and disappointed in the game, but I really appreciate Graham's willingness to share his stuff here in the forum.
Oh also, thanks Graham for making custom Ambitions lots for Appaloosa Plains! Those Ambitions lots got old really fast when used in every world. Also thanks for those all unique rabbit holes for Appaloosa Plains. Even in Bridgeport there were still reused rabbit holes like the hospital and diner.

Yeah but for some people that's all they have. You should feel compassion for them, not sneer at them.

Newsflash: "First World Problems" is a common meme around the internet. It was a setup to a joke. "People without water...Pray for Sims." was a setup for that meme. I wasn't sneering, I was poking fun just as I'm sure Zen was also having a little fun with his/her comment.
My goodness.

I know it's a meme. But I still stand by what I said because nowhere in your post did you indicate you were anything but serious. First World Problems is used as an insult as well.

I clarified that it was a joke. But go ahead and keep on assuming that I was completely serious about it even after I clarified it was a joke.

I don't think there was any selfishness in Zen's post Obviously people care a lot about this franchise and he seems to care for those people who are disappointed and sad. It doesn't invalidate those who have nothing in the world, they can be prayed for too. Have a good and edifying time at church camp Zen <3

I didn't think there was any selfishness in Zen's post either. A few people are blowing this WAY out of proportion.
But I guess lesson learned, don't ever joke about praying and never bring up the first world problems meme.

Hmm... I just realised that the CAS is not laptop friendly... (unless you have a mouse)
Just try to edit your sims face or body with the touch(or mouse?) pad.. its HARD

I am still quite surprised they didn't make it touchscreen friendly. Would have been ideal for the direction they're heading in.

Thanks, Graham, for explaining what it is exactly you do in your job, makes it much clearer. And interesting to read.
I also don't get why H.O.W. was disagreed to that much. As I understood it, he/she simple said, that the delay could come from missing animations from Sims in the pool. Well, it could be the case. You don't know better.
My GUESS is that they already know how to build pools (because.. fountains), but they don't know how to put the sims in said pools. That could include believable animations or even how sim models and the water together behave. Or if the pool problem is a matter of floors and grounds. Maybe they are already laying the groundwork for build options that allow you to build a pool on every floor.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, I just saw all of the fallout and felt a bit sorry for Zengarden who might have come home to the stuff feeling a bit under attack and I just wanted to offer my support too. I for the most part love your posts, so please don't let me put you off.

I just went back and removed my disagree because s/he turned out to be actually right about the thing I disagreed with. :D

You didn't offend me, no worries. I'm not offended by anyone, really. I made a bad joke and I got pounced for it. My fault, you learn and move on.
I definitely didn't mean to offend Zen or anyone else, it was just, again, a bad joke that IMO was blown way out of proportion.
(I truly did think it would read as a joke when I brought up a First World Problems expansion pack. I read wrong)

Awh. I've got a laptop with a fancy touchscreen that I was looking forward to use while playing the demo

My uneducated guess is that as the TS4 CAS demo is an Origin exclusive every other source where you can download it will probably be a "non-standard" one.

Again, this is not a player issue. This problem starts from your end. That doesn't mean you specifically, I mean EA as a whole.
You've come here and said that pools are 'doable' but there is work that needs to be done.. Okay, why wasn't that said when the new broke that there wouldn't be any toddlers or pools? Why do we have to go through this big horse and pony show about how terrain cannot be cut into, but yet there is evidence to shows otherwise? I'm not so full of myself to think that a screenshot of a in-ground fountain brought this little tid-bit of information to the surface, but the timing is strange.
EA is one of the few companies that I'm aware of that when a customer has a concern or reason to feel as though they are being shafted, they are always made out to be the bad guy. This of course is not a new problem, but that doesn't deem it acceptable either. If critique is going to rub people the wrong way, then there should be some dialogue. Not some flowery corporate newsletter published on a Friday afternoon that spins the issue, but honest dialogue.
Meh! Too much to ask.

I don't know, if you're saying it is the original or the pirated version, tsayers.
But the official demo is not out yet, so this is a pirated version, I would say.

I can't leave the females without the make up because the skin lips are so dark, I don't understand that concept. I'd rather have light shading which is why I miss the opaque slider for makeup. Sigh. |
I've thought that I'd make some new lipsticks, and make opaque variations of different opacity values. You can still achieve that by manually editing the files. I made some opaque face contouring makeup and freckles for TS3 before the slider came along.
But I really miss the actual slider in game, it was so useful! I used it on my every sim. I put on different kinds of face contouring "make up", then blended it with the opacity slider to look natural. It was also super-useful for creating realistic, subtle lip texture.

@tsayers and @Jendra9311 No, it is not allowed to discuss this in other than the most general terms. So, please remove all reference to actual sources for this software (including those in your quotes) and just state that any version that is available at the moment from other sources than Origin is not the real one. That should make your posts acceptable without need to delete them completely.

Having an engine apparently geared for online play hasn't stopped them from trying to use the dang thing for an offline single player game, now has it? |
Wait to see what Pescado has to say about it. If he gets it. If he cares this time.

Glassbox is totally irrelevant to a game like The Sims. Glassbox specialises in stuff like resources required in/out of services and manufacturing, and the routing of them along roads or rails to get where they are needed.

I will be watching out for it, still being a cheerleader when you get to work on the demo or game.
I liked using make-up on males for circling a slightly darker color around the eyes, gives them depth and realism. I like giving lip colors a natural look other than a painted like a clown look. I like using full face makeup too, but now with preset colors, I have to find a set that will work with darker skin tones. I wish I had the talent for this, I have to wait until an artist creates them. I do well testing CC though.
