This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Gunmod's Radiance Light System 2.4 for Ultimate Collection?
I was really looking forward to downloading this lighting mod but when I found out it hasn't been updated for Ultimate Collection I was very concerned. People who have Ultimate Collection and have downloaded the mod said their lighting appears to be "off" or doesn't look quiet right. I was wondering if anyone has a download for lighting of the expansion pack, "Fun With Pets" which is what came with Ultimate Collection. Also, some of the instructions that came with the mod are somewhat confusing to me such as something to do with the "userstartcheat" i'm not 100 percent sure on the exact name. Anyone out there that can help? I've asked a couple people and they didn't give me a clear answer or didn't know. I did research and couldn't find anything. I hope this question was clear enough... Please and thank you.

Even so, theoretically the ultimate collection is just a different way of how the game is packaged. It should function exactly the same. Theoretically. I highly doubt EA spent any time or effort to make any significant changes to the ultimate collection. My guess is that people with errors while using this mod must have some other issues and it is purely coincidental.

Anyhow, why don't you try it? Make a backup and try it, if you don't like it then take it off. Or if you actually have bugs, then report back.

I was thinking about that as a possibility that they might have errors. I checked the the folder for "Fun With Pets" and it does have a lighting folder...should I just leave it alone or transfer some of his custom lighting mod folders into it, I was thinking of putting the "Mansion and Garden" lighting folders into "Fun with Pets" to test it out. Thoughts on that? also are you aware on what he wants you to do with the "userstartupcheat" in the instructions...I can't wrap my head around that..

Okay, it's kind of complicated for Ultimate, but definitely doable.

So, unpack the whole file somewhere. There's a bunch of folders we'll get to in a second, three readmes and a userStartup.cheat.

Go to C/Users/Name/Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection/Config.

There's the regular userStartup.cheat file. If you haven't changed anything about it, it'll only contain the order to turn off testingCheats on start. Either copy the text from Gunmod's file and paste it into your file or just replace the files. Remember to back up your file first. You can edit the .cheat files in the text editor. What the new file does is force your graphics setting to max and activate some stuff like Shaders. I'm not sure if you can't just change any of those in the Graphics tab, but apparently you need it. (According to the readme, you can turn Shaders off and not lose too much.)

Now for the folders. Go to C/Program Files/Origin Games/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. If you open any of the folders in your download, you'll see they contain a folder called TSData, then one called Res, then Lights. You'll want to only copy the Lights folder, because a lot of the folder names aren't completely accurate anymore. Now, first open your Apartment Life folder (the one on Program Files). Go to TSData/Res. There's a folder called Lights. Rename it (I went with Lights_AL_old so that I could recognize it later) and move it somewhere else. Then copy the downloaded Lights folder.

This is the easiest part. Repeat this step for Bon Voyage, FreeTime and Seasons. The others will require a step more.

If you open the Best Of Business folder, you'll see that there's several things stuffed in there. For now, you'll want to open the folder that says EP3. Now just repeat the steps from before. Do the same for Fun With Pets and University Life, always picking the folder named EPX.

Next, check your download for the folder _Deluxe Editions. You'll want Double Deluxe. This one's already prepared, so you can copy the Lights folders from all three download folders like normal.

Okay, almost done here. We've changed the base game and expansion pack files, all that remains is the stuff packs. That is the real tricky part, because they're not numbered. What is numbered are the files in the Lights folder, which is wonderful. So it goes like this: Open downloaded Lights folder, look for filename SPXLights.nlo, search your files for the corresponding Stuff Pack, do the replace shuffle. Since I'm doing this right now anyway, have a list for convenience:

Celebration! Stuff - SP4 - located in Double Deluxe, meaning this has already been replaced. Ignore.
Family Fun Stuff - SP1 - located in Fun With Pets
Glamour Life Stuff - SP2 - located in Glamour Life Stuff because things were not confusing enough already
H&M Fashion Stuff - SP4 - Wait... Okay, so apparently this is the fifth Stuff pack, but the file is named SP4. - SP5 - located in Best of Business - Why?
Ikea - SP8 - located in University Life
Kitchen&Bath - SP7 - located in Best of Business
Mansion&Garden - now the thing is called EP9 but SP9 fits - located in Fun With Pets
Teen Style - SP6 - located in University Life

And that takes care of the Stuff packs.

There are some optional files remaining, check the readme to see if you want them. I hope this made sense to you, ask me if there's anything left that's unclear.

I followed all your instructions (they were so easy to follow) and I played the game to make sure they worked and they did and it was amazing! Thank you so much for your help! You explained very well!

I was directed to this thread by another kind UC user and want to thank @Ovenhole for this great information on the subject

I'm confused.

Just install the scriptorium, uncheck everything but the radiance mod. It'll install where it needs to without having to play with files.

http://modthesims.info/d/192613

It works fine with the UC.

Not-so-daily TS2 downloads @ my simblr.

Bumping this thread because I see a recent post on the Radiance 2.4 thread asking whether it works with the UC...and because siletka, right above me, is totally correct. The current version of the Scriptorium doubles as an auto-installer for Radiance 2.4. Both that auto-install feature and Radiance 2.4 are totally UC compatible. So Ovenhole's manual method is correct and will work, but with Scriptorium, there is no reason to do it that way unless you really want to.

And if you don't quite do what siletka suggests and leave some other options checked, you will also get Scriptorium and its handy ability to easily install custom stairs, fireplaces, and walls/fences. But it's great that you can install only Radiance and not Scriptorium at all.

Bonus feature of the Scriptorium autoinstall method for Radiance 2.4: it can easily UNinstall Radiance afterward also (I assume only if it's been used to install it). So if you don't like the way Radiance looks or works, just run the Scriptorium installer again, and this time click only the radio button at the bottom of the menu. That will uninstall both the Scriptorium and Radiance. Want to uninstall Radiance but still want the Scriptorium? Uninstall as just mentioned, then run the installer yet again, but this time deselect the option to install Radiance; you'll only get the Scriptorium installed and no Radiance.

The lighting now looks great in my UC game. And my whole install process of both the Scriptorium and Radiance was maybe 30 seconds. Yay!

Agreed - using both the lighting mod and the scriptorum with UC - and both installed fine with the Auto-installer. 30 seconds is about the time it took me as well

When I searched for it, I found a lot of people arguing if the scriptorium worked with the UC, so I did it manually to be safe and posted it here. If I ever had to reinstall, I'd use the scriptorium, but if anybody for whatever reason doesn't want to, here's an alternative option.

With that clarified, can people please stop reviving the thread every six months to tell this?

Ovenhole, I agree with your original reasoning for posting, and I did not mean to take away from your efforts. Your post provided us with an accurate method of doing the Radiance install manually, and it also serves as a useful peek into what goes on under the hood in even the Scriptorium autoinstall method. And you went to the trouble of posting it all in a clear and easy-to-follow manner. Thank you for doing that.

As I understand it, it is not frowned upon here to revive older threads when new information is being added. I had just seen a recent comment in the Radiance thread about wondering whether it could be used with UC, and I linked here from there so that hopefully people wondering the same before downloading it will now see the question's been answered. But also, I'd not seen any mention of the fact that Scriptorium will auto-uninstall Radiance as well, and that seemed useful in case someone isn't sure they'd like it and haven't tried it because they don't want to get stuck with it.

Hello, there is something I'm confused about. You said that I have to repeat the same steps for Best of Bussiness and Fun With Pets, but in the Gunmod 2.4 mod folder, there is no folder that says "Best of Bussiness or Fun With Pets. So I'm confused. The only folders that are there are the Deluxe Editions, Optional Files, Stuff Packs, Sims 2, Sims 2 Apartment Life, Sims 2 Bon Voyage, Sims 2 Freetime, Sims 2 Nightlife, Sims 2 Open for Bussiness, Sims 2 Pets, Sims 2 Seasons, Sims 2 University Life, and some txt files. Thats all.
