Default Sims 2: Custom TV Shows
Hi!

I'm on a Macbook Pro, running Snow Leopard, first off. Brand new, bought in December.

I read a tutorial that said you could make your own little TV Shows for your sims to watch on their tvs and thought I'd try it.

I made videos 128x128 and made sure they weren't faster then 15 frames per second, made sure they were AVIs. The tutorial said to pick a folder to put them in, inside the Broadcast folder. I opened

my documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Movies/Broadcast/TvChildren

And copied my movie file inside. I run my game and when I try to get my Sim to change the TV from cooking to the Kids channel, the game dies right to desktop.

Can someone help me, what am I doing wrong?

I googled looking for help, and only saw solutions for Windows users. I couldn't find any help here via a search of the help sections.

Thanks in advance!

Just started playing Sims 2 again after a very, very, veryyyy long time!
I also use Poser Pro 11!

First you need to have video. Convert it in total video converter or www.media-convert.com to a 128x128 Avi file. It must be 128x128 because the tv in the game is that. When you have convert it go to my documents/Ea games/The sims 2/Broadcast and there you can see a couple of folders. put the video in some of the folders and you can watch your own T.V show. I got this information from here:

Hi, I was wondering if you found the solution to this problem. I'm a mac user with macbook pro leopard and I'm having the exact same problem. No matter how many version of 128x128 15 fps .avi codec I converted, it all clashed my game.

It's interesting that the video from the sims recording option in mac has .mov output though. I tried randomly recording my sims with the lowest in quality and size and put in TvFood folder. This time it didn't clash my game like other .avi but it didn't show up either.

Do you think it should be .mov for us mac users?

Hi again,

After a long hours of trying, I wonder if any mac users out there ever get this custom TV shows to work? Anyone? Please let me know if you've tried. After long hours of trying, I just want someone to put me out of my mystery of converting 128x128 15fps .avi to different combination of header, video and audio codec (and crash my game over and over again) and just give up or tell me exactly what I need to do to get my video to work. I was so excited when I made a commercial video for my Sims restaurant to use in a game but now I'm desperate. I dumped my Sims 3 and came back to Sims 2 just because of this OFB restaurant. TT_TT
