I just got some news today that Yahoo is going to pull a photobucket and screw over people who have uploaded files over the past 2 decades. You can read about it here on Kim-Simpearls' blog:

I came here to spread the word, because there are a lot of people in this community, and it's possible there are some Simmers who have been in Yahoo groups in the past that don't want to lose that old content that might never be found again. You have 5 days from now to get downloading and rescue this stuff before the change is implemented.

My first thought was "Oh my god, what about all of the Saving The Sims stuff?" . Then I remembered all the Sims 1 groups and all of those downloads.

They should pull everything they can save off the boards and save the Sims 1 and 2 stuff to SFS under the same name. That's the only thing I can think of. But that's a horrible thing to pull, too.

You actually have until December 14 to rescue files. Only the ability to add more files goes away on October 21.

^Yep. And I pointed that out in the reblog I did on tumblr since everyone was panicking about only having a few days. Still a dick move on Yahoo's part though. If they don't want to have groups, fine. They could just leave the files there and make the groups joinable by invitation only with no new groups allowed.

The Archive Team is working on it! They do some good work.
