Default Update
Fixed YA-work-wants-fears to liberate wants to join specific careers. Due to my oversight, those wants were still unavailable to young adults (big thanks to @Radium for reporting). They should work now.
Please redownload and replace the old file. Also, if you use other want/fear-related mods, it'd be a good idea to run HCDU, just to be on the safe side.

So it seems that the carpool doesn't show up in the campus at all. I don't know what did I do wrong?

For those YAs who have a job which overlaps going to class there is an easy way around it. I never send YAs to classes since they can do assignments, etc. in their residence and still get the highest grades. This would make it easy to just skip class on those days. For finals, they can just skip work on that day to do their finals. Kind of like juggling real life to fit a change in schedule.

Lamare, thank you so much for all of your mods, they sure do make a difference in game play and giving us and our sims a much more fulfilling life. (:

There's nothing stopping it from working in 2020, is there?
I can't seem to get it to work. The only other "Job-related" mod I'm running is the Level Numbers Added to Job Titles

I made an account specifically to ask this question. This is my first post here, so please let me know if I need to give out more info

It works just fine. Don't know what I did, or if I did anything. After a couple of days, it started working just fine.

Just to confirm, can I only have one of the downloads, or can I get the one to ask before promotion *and* the one which lets you choose between part-time and full-time?

You can get both, yes.

I still can't get it to work for me. I don't have many job-related mods installed so I'm going to remove the ones I can, and see if that fixes this.

I love this mod - thank you! But, I was wondering, is it possible to edit how often YAs roll job wants because they seem to get them all the time and I only want some of my students to have jobs.

Can you choose the career type when setting the job with Simblender or MogHughsons Job Seeking Noticeboard? Or do you have to do it over newspaper/computer?

Still can't get this work for me and I can't even look for jobs via newspaper anymore.

Sorry to hear that, @LucielleMarie. Make sure your game is up to requirements (some packages require certain EPs). Also check for possible conflicts with other mods in your folder.

Default New mod and updates!
Hi to whoever might visit this page
Today I've added a new mod to complement this set and updated three other mods with better versions.

1. A better version of YA-work-wants-fears
  • Young adults may want to find a job only if their interest in work is higher then in school and entertainment, OR if they have less then §100 in funds. Thus, fewer students want to get a job, and it makes more sense now.
  • Working sims may want to find another career, if their job performance is poor (not only young adults). Makes for a better story: sometimes people want to change careers, and that's fine.
2. Updated jobs-in-uni
  • Sims may look for jobs on non-livable lots. Example: go to a community work center and use a computer to find a job you wouldn't find at home - the list of available jobs would be different.
3. A NoDeal version of ask-before-promotion - this one doesn't have a better promotion deal, in case you don't want it.

4. New mod: career-types-mutually-satisfy-wants
  • Getting a part-time job satisfies a want to get a full-time job in a corresponding career, and vice versa - getting a full-time job satisfies a want to get a part-time job in a corresponding career. Only works for maxis careers, because I had to go by individual IDs.

Thank you for the updates and the new mod, Lamare!

About mod conflicts, I got the following between career-types-mutually-satisfy-wants and Lazy Duchess' job reject, which you did foresee:

Quote:
CT - Offer Job
File Type: BHAV
Group ID: 0x7f8f4eb6
Instance ID: 0x00002006

Is this conflict solvable by loading them in a specific order, or are they truly incompatible? If they are, is there any change we might get a new version of your mod that incorporates LD's mod? I'm only asking because I'm still unsure about which of them I'd get more use in my game, so, please, don't interpret this as a request.

Again, thank you very much for your hard work! It surely enriches my game =)

The mods are truly incompatible. But I think I might be able to squeeze my code into a different function to avoid this conflict, moreover it'll cover getting a job through networking, which it doesn't at the moment. Stay tuned.

Thank you for the report @nosferatuman

UPD: career-types-mutually-satisfy-wants is now compatible with ld_jobreject (it now overrides a different BHAV).

Thank YOU! And you were so fast, too. I hope this didn't inconveniece you in any way.

I did run the conflict detector through my mods folder again (over 1200 files), and it's fully compatible with what I have =)

You know, I once came across the issue your new mod adresses, when an elder sim, after retiring, wished to try a different carreer path. I opted for the full time job, and had to leave the want unfulfilled. It's great that now, thanks to you, age discrimination is truly gone

I wanted to get it done before most people download, and it's easier while it's hot, anyway.

Before I figured out these wants, I used to CTRL-click them in game via cheats or lock them and wait for a proper job to be available.

This sounds and looks ABSOLUTELY amazing and I appreciate your work so so much!
But there's one thing I don't understand, does this work with teens or not? Which version and how? (Don't they have have good grades to go to school?)
That is mainly what I was looking for!

@cherryrosey, thank you
What option do you want to work with teens? To choose full time job? Then get this file: choose-career-type+teens. You may want to disable school somehow, or maybe you want to juggle school and full time job, that's your choice.

All the other mods in this set work with teens and teen careers as well: ask-before-promotion, jobs-in-uni, career-types-mutually-satisfy-wants. Except for YA-work-wants-fears, it concerns young adults.
