This is another starship from the "class of '71". That is, one of a new generation of smaller, but faster, more manuverable, and more combat-oriented starships. The Steamrunner project began at approximately the same time as the Akira project, and the starships were fielded at approximately the same time.

The Steamrunner class has a rather unique hull design. The warp nacelles are an integral part of the main hull, while the navigational deflector if at the extreme aft of the starship and somewhat below the main hull. Normally in Starfleet's designs, the reverse is true.

Built on a 5x5 lot, it can accomodate a crew of 7-8. It has a simple, 1-deck layout. The only furnished parts are the bridge, engineering, and the transporter room. The layout looks like this:
Main deck- Bridge, ready room, astrometrics, mess, sickbay, science, hydroponics, engineering, transporter room, observation lounge, rec room, and non-essential systems
