The Traveller's were really impressed by the neighborhood when they visited. So much so that they talked Trent's younger brother, Travis, into purchasing a wonderful little piece of land
- right across the street from their good friend Mr. H. Simmington III.
Travis and Tanya, who graduated about month ago from SSU, and were married just last week, decided instead of embarking on an over-priced honeymoon, they would put the money they saved into building their starter home. Travis, who is establishing himself as an architect, designed this house to fit their current needs - with an eye toward keeping it as his office when their family grows and they move to a bigger place. He really likes the close proxemity to their new town; as, they do not own a car. Tanya was quick to be hired on as the Activity Director at the Kid's Kingdom across the street. She walks to work; and Travis' moped is convenient enough to get him where he needs to go in town - to meet clients and etc...
Their furniture is a strange mix of Mom/Dad hand-me-downs, college thrift finds from before they met - and after, plus a bunch of shiny new wedding presents. Sis-in-law Trisha gave them their "maid" - in the bathroom ...holding the TP. (Aparently it gets handed down to each next-of-kin who gets married in the Traveller clan. Trisha was more than happy to be rid of it. It looks like Tanya will be stuck with it until Tina marries!)
They saved a few simoleons by decorating the walls themselves. Tanya loves to paint, and she talked Travis into letting her try "sponging" the walls. She did the bathroom first, all by herself. After realizing just how much work it was, she enlisted his help with the main room. Let's just say, this was one of those 'strengthening' events in their relationship. They have agreed: next time they will find affordable wallpaper.
After returning all five toaster ovens, three microwaves, four coffee makers, a set of dishes, and bunches of towels - Tanya doesn't "do" flowery pastels; didn't anyone even read the registry?!? - they recouped enough to upgrade their appliance package, and add a dishwasher and wall compactor.
The red accents (Travis's favorite color) really bring everything together upstairs in the Master Suite. This is their favorite room of the house
Most mornings you can find Tanya here, at her easle, with a paintbrush in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. Her favorite subjects to paint are her tree and her gnome guardian (Note: Travis is NOT a gnome fan...)

This lot is to meet the requirements for 'Mean Maisonette' - It is a two-story home, built for 2 sims starting out. It has a combined kitchen/diner, 1 bedroom, a bathroom with tub. And, it has a spiral staircase. As per round 5 requirements, the tree has been left alone - it was transplanted briefly during construction so as not to damage it in any way. This is a CC free lot - with the exception of allowed WTF and defaults.
NOTE to judges: The bed is a bit tight on the right footer-corner. I had to maneuver my sim around a bit to get him past the tight corner. In real gameplay I will add a 'walk-through' block - or Inge's bed fix. As it is now, it is do-able, but there was some stomping. I hope this will not cost me a point, as it is easily fixable.
Defaults used: Maranatah's white top walls, HL's backless shower/tub, SD's invisible smoke alarm
