Default How can I make a CC object recolourable?
Hello everyone, I've been getting into Maxis Match objects lately .

I downloaded a lovely coffee table (it is this one https://n99forumpaks.jfade.com/old....ategory=71.html, at the bottom of the page, a 1 tile coffee table to match the Scraps Ranch Coffee Table), but when I try to select a different colour with the design tool, I get the attached error message ("This object is not designable").

The creator included TXTRs and TXMTs in the file, so I assume they did mean for it to be recolourable.

Does this mean it needs a CEP Extra? If so, is there a tutorial on how to do that please?

Or is it something I can change in SimPE please?

Thanks to anyone who can help

A MMAT is usually required for an item to be recolorable (unless it's repo'd).

They seem to be set up properly, though I have noticed the odd issue when internal mesh names have spaces, so could be that. Possibly the MMATs/instances/SHPE not matching with which is the "true"/default color (but I doubt that). GMND/MMAT/SHPE seem fine. Have checked for stray spaces in value strings too, but couldn't find any.

The table is standalone, so shouldn't need a CEPextra.

Can you test if the file below has the same issue (make sure to move out the original first). I just changed the internal name to remove spaces, to check the theory.

Thanks for your help, I tried the file you kindly edited, thanks.

Unfortunately it didn't show up at all in my game, I checked under all table types, and dressers too just in case.

Do you think making a recolour or a clone with Object Workshop in SimPE would work, or would I need to repositiory it to the base game Scraps Ranch coffee table (I have never repositoried things before, so I would need to follow a tutorial)?

I can give it a test tomorrow.

The item already comes with recolors, so if those don't work for you, making a new recolor likely won't work either. Repoing might work, but I'm unsure if it uses the same textures as the ingame table.

Repository tutorials (both achieve the same goal)

(Auto tool for items that don't need remapped UVs to work - I do suggest to learn the manual method, so you know how to fix issues, though)

(this one is for both clothes and objects)

Other useful tutorials

I had repo'd these a while back (years ago) but didn't finish the shadows. The shadows aren't perfect but not bad.

@simmer22 = Thanks for those links, I'm a complete beginner to repositorying etc., so they will come in very handy

I haven't done it before because I prefer keeping textures separate for clothes, and generally only want them in one age group.

But I really like it for objects so I will probably try to learn the technique, I like following tutorials to learn new things.

@Huge Lunatic = Thanks so much, that's perfect! I tried it in game and it works perfectly, and the shadows look good to me
