boolProp constrainfloorelevation false not working
I wonder if anyone else has had this problem. Im building a house and am following a tutorial on u-shaped stairs, http://www.geocities.jp/invisiblesi...l/stairs_1.html in step 2 it says to use the medium lower terrain tool to lower 8 clicks, it dosnt say turn on boolProp constrainfloorelevation false but one would assume you couldnt lower it without the cheat (plus it wouldnt let me!) so I turned it on and it still didnt lower, and yes I did spell it right! Was using the anygame starter and just to make sure that wasnt the problem I packaged the lot up and put it in my main game loaded that up and then tried again - and the same thing happened it tells me it cant lower occupied terrain (or something along those lines) and yes once again I did spell it right! Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you fix it! I use this tool (I dont look at it as a cheat) alot and dont know how I can do without it not working!

Thanks to all who can help!

You need to be at the very lowest view level so you are clicking on 'ground' -- even though it looks like you are clicking on the ground when the view is at a higher level, the game doesn't sense it that way.

Change your angle! You´ll need to be able to click the groud! Not the gridline! It doesen´t matter if you are using a cheat, or not. Always try to click under the grid! Or else you´ll get that message.

ok I have tried going under the gridline (I think I did anyway), and this is what I got It did also come up saying only exposed terrain can be edited for some reason thats wasnt captured! so then I went to the foundation level and this is what happened after that dosnt look a thing like the tutorials one! To be honest I'm feeling rather stupied right now as i have made U shaped stairs in the past and used boolProp constrainfloorelevation so many times and never had a problem! Maybe I'm just having one of those days ....

What you have looks like what you can expect from using the CFE cheat. You just need to level a few things out to be able to make you U-stairs work. IIRC, making the U-stairs requires VERY specific levels and slants ... It isn't a forgiving build.

you didn't need to have the cheat on to lower the ground near the outside of the house. you only needed it to level the stair landing. And there are better tutorials on how to do that particular type of stair (no offense to the author, but the pictures were more helpful than the text). I'm a little confused as to what your were trying to accomplish in your second image, but the landing looks like it's at the 8 click level. Now you just need to re-level the walls around it. Most of the CFE uses are trial and error anyway. At least they were for me... sometimes still are.

thanks will have a play round, I did level out after I posted the photos and it kept the triangler bits at the top which was a tad bit annoying!

It looks like you are trying to make shortcuts and you don´t follow the tutorial 100%. Sorry. I might be wrong! It just, that I don´t see the extra wall outside your house! You need it to lower the walls for your staircase. Otherwice youll get all kind of freaky things happening.

Did you build the temporary wall outside the house? If not. Try again.

Some triangular bit -- especially those you get from leveling diagonal walls are strictly graphical artifacts. They will disappear when you save, exit, reload lot.

If you are referring to the walls that are now slanted at the top (distorted walls), there will definitely be some of those in the finished home.

I hadnt done the wall outside at the the time, as it mentioned after the lowering, to add it, today I'm not feeling so stupied and have realised that I should be lowering outside the house not inside ( a big duh to me!) and I believe I did read a few posts up that ejnarts1 did mention that and being in the frame of mind I was in yesterday it didnt even register! Note to self don't build anything when you're not quite with it!! But thanks to everyone who helped! My new problem now is I got so frustrated with it that I put a stage in that corner and just did stairs that way and now I want to play round with it again and have another go and it won't let me delete the dam stage!! Hmmm come to think of it I think I was trying to delete it using the foundation tool!! I will just keep quiet i think from now on else I will come off looking very stupied indeed!!

Again big thanks to all that helped and once I have bested the silly thing I will put up a pic lol!
