Hmm. Wasn't a popular thread, was it? I would also like to know how to change in game sims' skin tones. I made a mistake and deleted a skintone I was using. Now my sims' skins look wrong. Could anyone explain how to do this? I did it once but I can't remember how.

If you choose "Sim Surgery" in SimPE, and select your sim as both the archetype and the patient you can choose "skintone only" and select one of the maxian defaults. Or, you can open up their clothing files in SimPE, see which one is their skintone, open up the selection and pick another default one. OR you can create another version of the sim, with the skin tone you like and use it as an archetype in SimPE. Hope that helps.

I'm confused zythe... (i'm really sim pe stupid...)

What do you mean when you say that you can open up clothing files and see what it is then open the selection and pick one or something? I am afraid that I am going to need it completely spelled out because I am really dumb when it comes to SimPE and I just have no idea what I'm doing!

Sorry!

I'm saying this because two of my sims (both with custom skin tones) had some kids and I want the girls to have one and guys to have another... but of course some of the kids had the opposite ones. How can I find the other skin tones and fix it?

I can try to help, I think. Yesterday I changed the skintone of two young adults after I deleted their skin by mistake.
Here goes;
1. Open SimPE and run the neighbourhood browser. Open the neighbourhood that has your chosen sims in it.
2. From the plugins menu, open Sim Browser. Find the sim that has the skintone you want to use and open it.
3. Click on the button that says "sim DNA". You will be asked to commit changes before you do but if you haven't changed anything then just click no.
I hope you can follow this so far.
4. Look for the line that starts with "6 (dstring)=". The numbers that follow after represent that sim's skintone.
5. Copy down the rest of the code for that line. (On a bit of paper, or somewhere you can see it after closing this sim's data.)
6. Repeat steps 2. to 4. Only this time, open the sim that you want to change the skin of.
7. Copy the numbers you wrote down before into the "6 (dstring)=" of this sim. Do this by clicking on the line you want to edit and type the new values in the text box to the right. It should have the existing code in it for you to change.
8. Commit the changes and then click on File>Save.
Now the next time you play the game your sims should have the same ginetics but now have the skintone you want. I hope this is easy enough for you to follow.

EDIT: I got this information from the thread by warmonger. I only tried to make it easier to understand.

i have alien sims and i want to change the skin to an alien skin i recolored and havent used on any sims yet... is there a way to change the sim's skin in game or in SimPE even if there are no current sims using it?

As far as I know you have to have a sim currently using the skin to be able to get the game code for it from SimPE. Unless anyone knows otherwise then I suggest you make a sim with the skin you want but make sure they don't meet any other sims. That way, if you want, you should be able to safely delete them afterwards.

SimPE is a program used to edit the way the sims2 game works, change sim details and create new clothing and object meshes.
I mostly use it to make my sims perminently taller or shorter when they reach adulthood.
I can't remember the web address but doing a search in google should take you to their site where you can find more info.
