Default Cheat Code EDIT in CAS
There is suppose to be a cheat code that allows you to edit a sim's physical appearance. The supposed cheat code is "Edit in CAS" according to the Sims 3 guide, but when i enter it into the cheat box it just says 'unknown'. Has anyone got this cheat to work? and if so then how?

I heard this was removed at the last minute.

That's lame. Why would they put it into the guide and then remove it? A lynch mob paying EA a visit is becoming more likely with every post isn't it?

shift+ctrl-C still works for me on sims3 here's a list that of cheats that still work:

Kaching - 1,000 more Simoleons
Motherlode - 50,000 more Simoleons
moveObjects [on or off] - Hand tool can move any object in buy and build modes
constrainFloorElevation - Allows terrain adjustments regardless of objects/Sims/etc on them disable
SnappingToSlotsOnAlt [on or off] - When on, ojects will not snap to slots while holding ALT
enablellamas [on or off] - unknown result
fadeObjects [on or off] - Toggles whether objects fade when the camera gets close to them. Does not affect Sims
fullscreen [on or off] - Turns on / off fullscreen
hideHeadlineEffects [on or off] - Shows or hides talk/thought balloons above Sim heads
jokePlease - Prints a random joke to the console
moveObjects [on or off] - Removes limitations for placing / moving objects
quit - Exits the game
resetSim - Returns Sims to a safe, neutral state at their home location
slowMotionViz <0-8> - Puts visuals in slow motion. 0 = normal, 8=slowest. Does not affect the speed of time in-game
unlockOutfits [on or off] - This must be entered before going into CAS. Shows career outfits and service uniforms
testingCheatsenabled [true or false] - Enables testing cheats

Thanks Mekcoco! I just found out my game shipped today so I'll be using those in about a week! Sweet!

I appreciate CleoTheMuse's comment, but has this been confirmed? I'm still holding onto hope. I thought this would be a worthwhile feature. Thanks!

Well, the strategy guide, keep in mind, was probably printed and ready to go by the would've been Feb. release date. However, since the game release got pushed back, so did the strategy guide release. During that time, they removed cheat codes that had already been printed in the guide

POOKY: when you open the cheat console, type in "help". This will give you a list of currently available cheats

Thanks tinydancer80. I've done that but noticed that there are still some cheats not listed there, like kaching and motherlode, so I wasn't sure. Go figure!

Oh well. I was just reading on the EA Community Forum and it sounds like it may be that Edit in CAS is supposed to be in the game, but it's not working. Fingers remain crossed!

The familyfunds <lastname of family> <amount> works. You just don't add the + sign before it like in Sims 2.

Hmm... maybe Edit in CAS was one of the (more expensive) Lifetime Rewards. Not sure though... just thought I remembered seeing it somewhere. That may be what you mean by "in-game"

Googling about this just gets a lot of sites that still have it listed as a working cheat. I was actually hoping someone would create a mod that would allow CAS to be reopened, but to learn that it was a cheat that was in the game and got disabled is just frustrating. It would be cool if it was a bug though, because then it could get fixed.

If it wasn't a bug/EA wasn't planning on re-enabling it, is it possible that a mod could made that did it? I have no idea.

Objection~!

With (or maybe without too) the awesome mod by Pesc, you can type in "editme" in the console and that will edit your current sim. I haven't tested it with full families and someone had an issue with lifetime rewards missing, but I have had -no- problems thus far. Enjoy!~

I am, "The Man". I will get you down... Don't stick it to me... "Drink milk and be non-puntable"

No problem here either.

It also undid a tremendous mistake I made where I meant to make 2 Sims for a family but just made one and clicked accept. "Editme" gave me the option to save the Sim to my Sim Bin, and then bring him up in CAS again to add the rest of his family. Yay!

Editme is a function of Awesomemod.

Well to be fair, that's what we were discussing.

Just to be certain, I tried this without the Awesome mod, but it doesn't work. So, it seems either I use Pescado's incredible mod or wait and see if EA is going to fix the cheat. Hmmm... let me see. Which one is more likely to happen? Mod wins!

I have the awesomemod, and typing in "Editme" or "editme" in the cheat box does NOT work for me :\

Works for me but I can't do it until after I move my sim into a house and start playing him. If that still doesn't work for you, then it could be that I have the mod that was posted here in downloads that opens up more of the testingcheatsenabled options.

I've tried that one several times in several different ways and still cannot get it to work for me. I'm not sure if I'm not typing it out right or if I'm not biting my tongue correctly as I do it or what! Ah well, at least motherlode and kaching work, but it would be nice to be able to set a family up with enough funds to purchase a dreamhouse without having to worry if you have enough funds to buy it.

I'll wait for the patches though, because there is sill plenty to do and I'm having fun with it all!

Okay, it could be that you need to do the case right with the letters. It's familyFunds <last name of family> <amount>, you have to have the second f capitalized. Example: familyFunds Johnson 100000.

I can't remember if it has anything to do with testingcheatsenabled true or not, but if you type mirror in the cheat console, it will take the selected Sim back into CAS.

Hmm... well... I do know that when a Sim uses a mirror, they can go back to the aspects of CAS where they can change the hair, makeup, and eyebrows, but nothing genetic/DNA-wise. You can also do this with the chest of drawers to plan outfits, but again, no genetic/DNA changes. Anyhoo, that's probably all that is meant by the "mirror" cheat. It's just a quicker way of being able to change hair/eyebrows/makeup.

No, it takes you back into full-blown CAS, not the Change Appearance CAS. My daughter Sim was born with some of Mom's new traits, or so it seems.
