Default Adding Sims to pre-existing game
This may be the most basic of questions/inquiries, but here goes anyway... I created a married couple from scratch in create-a-sim and saved them, moved them into a house, etc. I played them for a while and then went to create another couple of Sims from scratch. But I ended up having to save the new Sims into a new game, not the same game. The user guide that came with the game states "a single saved game represents your entire town." But now I have two of the same town saved as separate games. How do I create more Sims from scratch and move them into the EXISTING saved game towns I already have? I don't want 20 versions of Sunset City (or whatever it's called) for 20 separate Sims families... What am I missing?

To add new sims to your existing game, go to Edit Town, and then click the "change family" button. You then have the option to make new sims in CAS. Make your new sims, and they'll be in the family bin when you exit CAS. You can move em in from there.

The "change family" button does have one undesirable side effect: you lose current wishes and opportunities from the family you're leaving. Still, since those come back, it's not that big a deal.

Ah - danke! Thank you very much. Now that I got CC to work too, I will create a new city from scratch and delete the other ones. Unless I can merge by moving Sims/house into bin and they will be available for new city/neighborhood, like in TS2?

When you creat a sim in CAS, the household is saved in the Sims Bin. From which you place a copy into the neighborhood. If you were to delete your current games and start a new one, you'd still have those households in your sim bin. But they would be fresh, just made families. So you'd have to start them over again. But I think there's a way to merge saved game files... I'm not sure how though.

Interesting... Creating the Sims themselves took forever (so many clothing fabricks to choose from!) so I would hate to lose them. But I would equally hate to lose the houses I've created for the same reasons - they are a lot of work! Thanks for the advice Srikandi and icu2richelo!

Well, the sims you created will be there, they just won't have friends or skills because they will be the source of the copy which you originally placed in the game. You won't have to create them again, you'll just be playing them for the first time again.
