Default Your opinions: Best and Worst Lifetime Rewards?
So far, what are the best lifetime rewards you have bought? Which ones were a total waste of points?

Keeping in mind I haven't bought them all yet, I'll go first:

BEST: Steel bladder. Not using those toilets means they never get dirty!

WORST: No hygiene decay. I thought it worked the same way as the steel bladder, but my sims still get dirty fairly quickly. I want my points back!

Your turn!

I think it really depends on the Sim. Like, with my gardener, Super Green Thumb was an absolute necessity. But that's totally pointless for my Master Thief or Rock Star. And the Attractive one is great, but my loner Sim who I don't plan on ever marrying off would do better with Multitasker.

But all of my Sims get Steel Bladder, Dirt Defiant, and Hardly Hungry, regardless of their goals or personalities.

Steel Bladder and Dirt Defiant are the best for sure, even though Dirt Defiant could work better . Hardly Hungry is cool too but I like to see my sims eating

Another cool is the very first one, in my game it's called "Insightful", the reward that makes you learn traits of other sims quicker.

I don't hate any reward, but agree with blondynka that Dirt Defiant is the worst, just because it doesn't work the way it's expected.

You must be playing with cheats, because these 3 rewards cost whopping 50000 points...

All my sims get those three too and I don't cheat, the lifespan is just set to epic.

If she was playing with cheats, don't you think testingcheatsenabled would make those rewards obsolete? What with never needing to fulfill those needs since you can set them static or just drag them up with your mouse....

Anyway. It really does depend on the sim. I'm a big fan of Super Green Thumb/Collection Helper, but I enjoy gardener sims. Those are both pretty useless for other sims....

MY favorite is Collection Helper. If I had to choose a favorite that was good for all sims, it might be multitasker I suppose.

Worst? I find those free entertaiment/book discount/grocery discount rewards pretty stupid. Money is really easy to come by in this game, except at the VERY start, when you don't have enough lifetime happiness to buy those things anyway.

I like the book discount because some of those books cost like 500-2000 a pop. All my sims with a job get multitasker. I try to get rewards based on the sim's personality.

I haven't bought them all yet, but my favourite out of all that I have bought is Observant (learning traits quicker.) I haven't spent much time testing out all the rewards, and I don't have a personal worst yet.

What's up with the reward which lets your Sims learn their skills quicker? For me it seems as if this reward does nothing, learning is as slow as it is for Sims which don't have this reward. Or am I wrong?

I'd say my favourite is 'attractive', it gives a nice boost to the majority of any starting relationships with other sims. Makes making friends much faster.

I noticed that too.

Apparently llamas don't gallop that fast.

Winning the Game
Don't be absurd. This is a Maxis game! What's to win? You and your sims can play unto perpetuity, getting into entanglements and trying to get out, and by the time you know it, it will be 3am your time, and you don't even have your teeth brushed...

I go for Steel Bladder pronto, as my sims can live with being a bit smelly but I don't want them needing a pee when I'm making them play for tips for 8 hour stretches

And the Insightful one is really useful too since you basically learn everything about an NPC from pretty much just shaking their hand

But yeah, if it's a gardener or another specific character I'm playing then I'd totally save up for the Super Green Thumb or equivalent rewards first.

Also, there's some fun to be had making a grotesque monster in the CAS and then giving them "attractive" :D

i bought my dirt-poor boy the discount diner one, which has helped tremendously. $6 autumn salad gets pricey over a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

oh, and the quicker-skill building thing seems to be BS to me. i had a guy who had it, and a girl that didn't, and they both learned to paint in about the same amount of time. ):

I always, always, always get the fertility treatment one. But then, without babies/kids, the game just doesn't seem as interesting to me...

Me too! But the collector is definitely the most important, with observant being second for me. I don't really bother with the food replicator one since when my sims do eat (I use testingcheatsenabled true, all the time), I have them cook for specific reasons and the food replicator is just a piece of junk lying around if I buy it.

They're all crap IMHO, I don't want my Sims to become supersims.

Oppertunistic and Observant are the only ones I get, sometimes fast learner.

I like the collection helper because once you've got it it makes it really easy to earn maybe $3000 through smelting metals and cutting gems etc. Observant is pretty useful too, and I quite like the fertility one.
I bought acclaimed author the other day for my sim whose lifetime wish was to earn $4000 or more in royalities a week and I didn't notice that reward increasing the royalities significantly at all.

It's not like it was in Sims 2, where you could live without doing ANYTHING at all except sleep... Seriously, that was really bad :P

Right now my "super sim" has to eat only once a day, sleep only 6h a day, poop once every three days, shower once a day (because he gardens) and that's very much acceptable. Of course, since expansions where the culprits of creating super sims in Sims 2, I except EA's game designers NOT to do their jobs as usual, and just allow us to create super sims left and right.

I'm still trying to figure out how to use my Moodlet Dohickey. It gives my Cure or Zap options. I'm actually afraid to click on it. LOL

Observant is awesome. My Rocker greeted his boss Hunter Cottoneye and found out he is Mean, Crazy, Insane and Neurotic in one fell swoop. It was hard not to accuse him of being Crazy.

Steel bladder is so outrageously overpowered and out of line with the other (utterly worthless) traits that I had to nerf it.

Yes, this trait is nearly singularly worthless because it has no effect on drains, only decays. AwesomeMod, if you leave this feature enabled, tweaks it so the traits also affect draons.

But the most worthless trait of all? Fast Metabolism. Net Effect: Zilch.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill because they pissed me off.

Well, my Sims didn't sleep either, but all in all, I agree. I found that use of the shocker actually reduced my enjoyment of the game. That's why I like the rewards in Sims3 that help your Sim out a little bit, but do not turn him into some kind of weird robotic skilling zombie.

I prefer to make my skilling zombies the hard way.

I always get Steal Bladder first. Moodletmanager, and collection helper are fun. The transporter is worthless. I thought it would work like the teleport cheat ( before I found out about that cheat) but it doesn't, it is very limited in where it can send you and doesn't always send you there.
