Default Sims hungry but doesn't cook
My sims are always complaining that they're hungry but they don't even attempt to cook anything. The appliances are complete btw just in case you're curious.

I read at http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=85624 that this bug hasn't been fixed during that time. Are there any fixes now?

Two possible reasons I can think of:

1. They need to have a refrigerator. I've foolishly deleted mine before to save space (it was a 1x1 lot, don't laugh). Otherwise, they'll keep standing around and complaining.

2. Their cooking skill sucks? (Even if it does, then they should still be able to make at least a TV dinner.)

Their appliances are complete like I mentioned before (appliances = stove, refrigerator, etc.).

Their cooking skill sucks but they can still make a tv dinner like you said.

I think it is a bug.

My apologies for the lack of information in my problem.

I can command them to make a meal but they don't do it autonomously. I've been playing mostly in "free will" mode to see what they're capable of. They used to cook before (automatically) but for some reason they are simply nagging about food. One sim does automatically cook though, even though its skill is as low as the others.

Thanks for the patience.

Yeah, they usually won't cook, shower, change diapers, or even sleep unless you direct them to... no matter how many preferences you change.

Not true. Sims will cook on their own when they are hungry, *but* I think it is related to their personality. I am uncertain whether it has to do with their Neat points or something else.

As for sleeping and having a shower, nearly all of them do it depending on the EPs you have. After AL some of them will go to bed even if their energy bar is almost half -- which I find annoying really.

I've been thinking about this thread because lately I've noticed my sims cooking group meals autonomously a lot, and I don't remember them doing that in the past. It's kind of weird because I'm pretty sure I don't have any mods that are directly related to cooking. Could it be related to Cuisine enthusiasm?

They are kind of slow. If this were true, my Sims WOULDN'T BE standing around complaining about lack of shower, food, or homework. They just wait until I direct them. The personality thing, I'm wondering the same. A couple of my Sims HAVE died from their OWN lack of sleep and food, and I had one male student who got 1.3 GPA. I hate to sound nasty and impatient, but they always stand there, waving hands in the air. A nasty pink bubble or green foam, and then they're like, "[Johnny] Smells Bad" and they're starving. Do something!

I quickly bought up all the EPs and I truly don't see a difference in their personalities in any way.

My sims do everything autonomously...they cook, shower, use the restroom, go to sleep, even do things to up their fun bar. I often let them be when the households go over 3 members. I dont' think it's EP related because I only have Double Deluxe, OFB, Seasons, Free Time, and Apartment Life.

You guys must have really obedient Sims. I've played 30+ families and they're all helpless and panicky. I've never used mods/hacks/cheats, either.

Eh, I don't know. I think it's awesome that they do that though...because eight members in a household gets kind of laggy, so it's a pain to go from sim to sim and queue up their actions all the time. (Especially once you get to the seventh generation *face-palm*)

The exact reason why I can't play fams over four or five people anymore.

It is true in my game. I had had only one Sim who died of starvation: a Lazy, Sloppy Sim. All the rest, as Prosthetics also said, are capable of taking care of their needs on their own, even though slightly less efficiently than should they had been completely controlled by me.

I had these problems too... I believe for me they seized to exist after I installed JM Pescado's director's cut from MATY.

I think the combination of those hacks makes my Sims a lot more intelligent in some way.
