Default Cheat Code Won't Work?
Okay, I looked at the guide for cheat codes on this site, and it still doesn't answer my question...

Why does this cheat code NOT work?

Everytime I use familyfunds, it doesn't work.

For example, I open up the cheat window and I enter the following...

familyfunds Pribynski 55000

But, it says it's a unknown command!

What do I do?

I think you have to do this one with testingcheatsenabled true activated, and it won't work when you're trying to move them in. You have to actually have them selected and on a lot.

If you're trying to move them into a house for free, use freerealestate.

Yes, you do have to have testingcheatsenabled true performed before you can use the familyfunds option. You can use the money command though without having to activate the testing cheats. You would type money then amount behind that or if you just type money, your sim will end up with a million in cash.

Uhm, I did what you said...

It isn't giving me unknown command anymore, but it isn't changing the amount of money the household has.

Both cheats have to be done on the lot itself. Are you trying to do it before selecting a house for them?

Yea, I was trying to do it before moving them into the house. That's what I normally did on The Sims 2. Is there anyway to do that?

Just type in "testingcheatsenabled true" (no boolprop) and then type freerealestate. Then you can move into any residential lot regardless of money. Then you can use familyfunds and motherlode once you're on the lot.

Alright, I'll try that. Thanks!

I am starting to believe The Sims 3 hates me...

Now the cheat code isn't doing anything.

I did testingcheatsenabled true
Then I did freerealestate

I tried to move a household into a house, and it wouldn't let me.

However, when I entered the cheat code into the cheat box, it did NOT say unknown command. It apparently "worked."

Freerealestate does not give you money it gives you "free realestate" just put the family in any plot all realestate is free your funds will not change

I know that.

I was saying that it won't let me move them into a house that costs more than what they have like it should for free.

I have a family named Waterford with 21,000 simoleons.

I want to move them into a house that costs about 42,000 simoleons.

Well, it won't let me, even though I entered the cheat code.

Just use "motherlode" and give them the amount of money they need. That'll be easier.

You have to type in the cheat before you select the family. It took me a bit to figure that one out...if you've already selected the family and chosen the "move in" option, the cheat won't work.

some codes like familyfunds have too be capitalized should be familyFunds and freerealestate is freeRealEstate

I always type them lowercase and it works for me...I think it was Sims 2 that was picky about case.

I'll try what you said earlier.

Also, I always do cheats in lowercase.

Free Real Estate only works when you are in the Edit Town Screen. I have never had it work straight out of CAS. At least with the families I have made it won't work just for putting Sims on Lots. Put them on an empty lot first - type testingCheatsEnabled true
familyFunds Nameofhousehold amount. Then if you don't want to build a home on the empty lot move them out into whatever lot you wish to move them into.

What I always do is after I create the sim(s), I go to edit town and then click on the sim(s) that I created that are in the library. Then I open up cheat box and type in freerealestate before I choose the house for them. After they are in the house, then you can do the return to game and then choose household in order to choose your new family to play.
