Safe Downloads?
Hello everyone. I am new here, and I just got interested in modding. My comuter has been having some virus related issues lately, so I just want to make sure that all the downloads here are completely safe and virus free. All of the mods, as well as the monkey thing, and WinRAR.

Please respond.

Thanks

Of course the downloads and mods are completely safe.... The admins are fairly strict of what gets uploaded, here.

I've never had a problem downloading from here. It's the other, random fansites that are more sketchy.

Well I should jolly well hope so, as MTS is one the biggest websites dedicated to a specific game that you'll find.
If MTS isn't virus free, then nowhere is

And welcome.

Can't find stuff in build and buy mode? http://www.nexusmods.com/thesims3/mods/1/?

What are "virus related issues"? That is not very specific. Did an antivirus program alert you to the presence of a virus in one of the files that you downloaded?

I have downloaded many things from Mod the Sims but I ave never had any viruses from them. There is no guarantee of "completely" safe and virus free on the internet as even if you run an anti-virus program it can still miss very new viruses.
But since there is a comment section for each download then I would think that it would be caught and turned into the site's operators fairly quickly and commented on with a warning to other users not to download until it was removed.

Now some of the downloads on this site may conflict with each other and cause problems only with your sims game, but I don't know if that is your issue since you did not say what kind of problems you were having.

Also, we do not know either where you downloaded your copy of WinRAR.

So, my opinion is that you should use an anti-virus program and that Mod the Sims is a safe place to download files. And it is worth the VERY SLIGHT off chance that your computer could become infected from one of the files for all the FREE cool stuff to add to your game.

But the site's operators may be able to more fully inform you of the precautions taken with the files uploaded here.

Thanks again. I just finished cleaning up my computer from viruses that I don't know where I got. My old computer crashed before I got this one, so I'sm just trying to be really careful. I was going to download WinRAR from the link on this site in "Downloading for Fracking Idiots".

There is -NO- chance that you can get a virus from any of the custom content files here. They are all sims2pack/sims3pack and package files - none of those can have viruses and even if somehow the code for a virus -was- inserted into them it would be harmless, since nothing would execute it. The only exe type files we have here are safe as well - either posted by staff or reviewed by staff to ensure they're safe.
