Default Can you delete a sim completely without killing?
So, I was thinking if it is possible to delete a sim, but so that he/she will still appear in the family tree alive. Like, as if the sim had just moved away or isn't around.

Is that possible, any ideas how that could be done? D:

I do that all the time when I remove my models of uploading stuff, but I haven't tried how it affects the family tree... I'll test it out with some random family!

Go to "Edit Town" and evict them from their house. Then "Return to Game". They are gone and you didn't kill them. If you want to keep a copy of the Sim before evicting, "Save to Library" first.

My cat taught me how to fetch. I throw the toy, she shows me where it landed, and I fetch it.

If I understand what you mean, you can do the cheat moveobjects on and click on them and press delete. I've done this before, but I'm not sure if they stay in the family tree.

I think when they are just deleted with moveobjects, they most likely come back randomly by the post box.. :/

That is correct. Deleting their physical presence in that manner simply puts the sim into hibernation.

It is the same effect that occurs when a service sim is not in-town. They are de-instantiated and stored out-of-world until needed again.

Certain EA-Core game systems, and some mods, will auto recover those missing sims, placing them back on their home lots.

Cheers.

If you want to obliterate a sim utterly and completely, you need to use AwesomeMod's split-and-remove, as the EA split-remove-delete doesn't clean up properly.

Maybe If you use the 'moveObjects on' cheat and simply click on the sim,you might be able to sell him,or at least in the Sims 2.Not sure about The Sims 3,might try it out.xD

...Sweety,you had me...

My question is similiar to this, i deleted a baby sim through SHIFT CLICK>OBJECT>DELETE IT and now that baby is gone, stuck in hybernation but still in the family tree, but in the relationship panel is ''unavailable''. Is there a way to remove this sim completely or recover it? Thanks.

Try deselecting the household in Edit Town, then reselecting them.

I hated in TS2 that when I killed off Sims they would return to the game as townies. Drove me nuts. That doesn't happen in TS3 does it?

Ah yes, i tried it, still no results. I also tried moving the family out of the house and moving them back in, but still no results.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Hmm, thats an interesting question lol i never had that in TS2. It doesnt seem to work in TS3 because i never see my missing sim lol. Also, one downfall i've noticed about the TS3, is if you make a family and move them in somewhere, and leave a copy of them in the library, the game eventually automatically moves them into the neighborhood. I had a family called the ''Richards'' twice in one neighborhood and the funkee's twice.
