Default How many sims do you have in your neighborhood?
50? 100? 200? How many do you have and what do you consider to be a good size?

Right now I have about 77 - I just restarted Sunset Valley a few days ago. 100 seems like the number stuck in my head, but I wonder what you guys think.

I have 7 self-created families, totalizing 28 sims. Plus the pre-made families and NPCs. I wonder if that's why my game is effing slow...

Anyways, how many people is in Sunset View in a vanilla game?

About 70 I think. I plan on making it 100 or more over the coming years, but I will do it slowly for performance reasons.

Two. I play on a tiny island, and not counting NPCs, there's just the two of them. If they need friends, they can bug the people in foreign countries. Though I may need to move them to a real town eventually so they can do the careers.. but only after they max every skill.

IIRC, when I used Awesomemod's destroyallhumans command on Sunset Valley it wiped out a bit more than 100 Sims (townies and npcs).

I repopulated the town with about 30-40 Sims, but it still feels pretty empty, so I plan to add more.

So I'm like, "Cool! What should I get? Brain in a jar... monkey's paw... ooh, pie!"

I'm on a save file for my Legacy, and right now it's going to about 200. Not by force either.

Well, some Sims I've merged, but only because I really wanted them in there xD

Around 180. I have about 70 sims that I use to populate worlds (I switch a lot between custom worlds) and then I let story progression run wild. It seems to equalize at around 180 even if there are empty houses available. Has anyone ever gone over 200?

My cat taught me how to fetch. I throw the toy, she shows me where it landed, and I fetch it.

In one of my hoods, I filled every household and let story progression run for 8 sim weeks. It was interesting, to say the least.

Since most of the original sims got old and died, I'd say about 100, but it was near 210 when I started. (wth on not repopulating)

You lot must be using CFF surely? And if yes, what was your limit before CFF?

Yep. It's great, I'm accessing 4GB of memory instead of 2GB and I've never had a crash since I installed a couple months ago. However, I have had a few instances where bad routing, game background processes, or CC have caused memory to spike and slowed down the game badly. Personally, I think that just outlines some of the memory managment problems inherit in the game. It should have a way to capture those and re-address the problem without affecting gameplay - especially when you're accessing 4GB of memory. But CFF is such a great tool I don't know why it's not stickied on the help forum. Then again it does directly alter the exe file so there may be problems we haven't run into yet.

Before CFF I rarely went over 90 sims because my game would start to slow down. Really, it depended on the world I was playing and the size of the household (both in sims and the size of the lot - including house and furnishings.) Some custom worlds I was able to get up to 120 without any problems because of their small size and the houses were small and simple. But generally, 90 was the stopping point.

My cat taught me how to fetch. I throw the toy, she shows me where it landed, and I fetch it.

I don't mean to go off topic, but could someone please link me to this CFF thing/a thread about it here? It sounds interesting and helpful based on NekoCat's post.

Anyway, I'm not sure exactly how many Sims are in my neighborhood. I'm only playing with one who has over 10 kids. I noticed that there have been an oddly large amount of deaths in my current town, so maybe the game's trying to lower the population...
