Default Mixologists aren't showing up to work!
I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not...but Im pretty sure it is. I have several bars (eugi's, waylon's haunt, etc.) where there is "no Mixologist on duty". At all. There was for the first few days, but now it seems the mixologists would rather talk to each other in lobbies or go on jogs around Bridgeport. I even tried to reset them and they still play hooky. So I'm wondering 1) If anyone else has had this problem and how they addressed it; and 2) If I delete the (shoddy) Mixologists, via testingcheatsenabled, will a new one spawn?

I have had this problem too. I visited The Prosper Room for 3 nights in a row trying to order a drink (it was for a Celeb opportunity) but there was never a mixologist on duty. Sometimes there were bouncers, other nights not. And the last night I went there, there were about 20 pianists, as seen here:

I was just playing today and I visited Eugi's for the first time and there were no Mixologists on duty either. I don't know if it has to do with any CC to be honest with ya. I started a new save in Bridgeport and went to the Prosper Room and there were mixologists there without a hitch, you would think CC would break every instance, in every town save you have, right?

I haven't had any other issues with mixologists and other NPC's not showing up, the night before I went to Eugi's I went to Waylon's Haunt and all was well. Sorry I can't provide any help, but you're not alone. I'm gonna call EA bug on this one.

I know LN has it's problems but I read on another thread that some bars are resetting to "No Vistors Allowed" hence no one can go to work. It's worth checking out, hopefully that is all it is and can be easily fixed.

hmmm, I haven't had the problem with bouncers or pianists (yet), but I also rarely go to lounges since I have no famous sims in my hood (yet). But I actually did what I suggested- deleted the slacker bartenders via testingcheats-and the next day there was a new bartender in his place! So I guess that's how I'm gonna handle it for now.

Also, how would I check if the bars have been reset?

"No visitors allowed" is a lot zoning setting. You can check lot zoning in Edit Town.

The thing that controls access into the bar itself is the bar rope setting. Ctrl-shift-clicking that in build/buy mode lets you see and change the permissions on the rope.

My sim just got another opportunity to order a drink at Plasma 501 in order to get Celeb points. I went there and there's a bouncer on duty and a pianist. No mixologist, he was there but he wasn't working, just walking around acting like a normal NPC. I tried resetting him and nothing happened, I don't think I even got a new mixologist. This is such an odd issue. Some bars work fine, some don't. I'm pretty sure I had visited Plasma 501 before without a problem. I dunno, I can live with it for now, but its annoying. It means Sims don't dance on tables >:[

Ever since I patched my game to 6.1.11 I haven't noticed this issue again. Although a few other have cropped up ~_~

I heard that you can delete the bar and replace it with a new one, wait a little while and a mixologist should show up. Don't know how to fix the butler and bouncer though sorry.

In a default Bridgeport there are supposed to be 17 mixologists, 11 bouncers, 3 paparazzi and 3 piano players. As far as I've understood this thing so far, however, the pre-made bars and clubs are not service Sims like the maid or repo man but are instead manned by the huge pool of homeless (something around 40) Sims that come with BP. This is similar to how the game assigns roles to some random residents for the World Adventure registers.
Now it seems that every morning the game seems to reassign these roles anew and chances are that a former mixologist will end up as a bouncer and vice versa, for example. For the bouncer role this is no problem but the professional bars have a skill requirement and if the mixologist Sims have no mixology skills they will be unable to fulfill their job and get stuck somewhere trying to acces a bar they cannot handle.
I observed this when using MasterController to focus on all the mixologists that did not show up and found out that what they all had in common was a mixology skill level of -1. When I used MC again to give them a mixology skill level of 9 or 10 I could watch them immediately running to their bar and beginning to work.
The bloody thing is that these roles are not consistent. Due to this daily rotation, after a few days you might again have an empty bar because of the mixologist lacking the relevant skill.
This situation might become worse if you play with several Sims with different jobs because these homeless Sims are also eligible for the role of co-worker.
Deleting the bar in question is only a temporary fix, however, as this will create a completely new homeless Sim that might also lack the mixology skill. So I guess the only solution would be to use MC and give all bouncers, mixologists and paparazzi a high mixology level and all piano players a high piano skill. Most of my bars are now permanently manned unless the game decides again to mess with my setup and reassign roles or some of these NPCs get stuck for other reasons.

These at least are my observations in a game that uses AwesomeMod, twallan's Overwatch, MasterController and Relativity and with Aging and StoryProgression turned off.

I will agree with your observations, Babele. I am using the exact same mods only that I have Aging On [with AM configured to TS2 Aging Style] and AM's Story Progression also on. You can't imagine what a nightmare the reassignment of roles is! Last time I played I was in Riverview and noticed that after 3-4 Sim days two Mixologists found a job elsewhere, thus they became co-workers of my Sims, a bouncer became Mixologist who served NO clients at all, and one bar was without a Mixologist for hours and hours -- till I decided to send one of my Sims to fill the vacancy. It is amazing how EAtards break things with each and every EP and patch, or/and neglect fixing old/persisting problems. Buggers!

I've heard about deleting and replacing the bar, but how do I do that? When I go into buy mode, it takes me back to my house. Is there a cheat command that fixes that, or do I need to have a mod installed?

Use "testingcheatsenabled true" then when you're focused on the bar, SHIFT+CLICK on the ground and you should get options for "Buy on this Lot" and "Build on this Lot" (or something similar).

Something to keep in mind, when you do it this way is that anything you buy/sell, the funds will come out of your household account. If you don't want to spend your own simoleans, then just write down or remember where your funds were at and when you're done use the cheat "familyfunds [last name of your sim] ####" (#=whatever your funds were at before).

I tend to do this all the time fixing lots or changing things around to suit my own tastes. =)

I think that this only applies to changes you make on residential lots, when you use buy/build on this lot on a community lot your family's funds will remain untouched.

It doesn't work that way in my game. =(

I know that if you go through the EDIT TOWN mode, your family's money stays the same, but if you use the cheat to build on a community lot in "live" mode, the funds come from the family funds.

Might just be me, though.

Sorry for the necromancing, but this thread was the newest one I found mentioning something that sounded like my gameplay problems.

Thanks to babele44's post above I've now finally solved the mystery why my mixologists are such slackers (they're at work, but not working) and why they switch roles with the bouncers. I've recently reinstalled and patched my game and have AwesomeMod but not yet reinstalled MasterController, so will have to try the solution for the lack of mixology skill when that is back in place.

However, I'm still confused why I found one of my CAS sims suddenly working as a bouncer in Bridgeport when I switched to another family and went to a club. He doesn't have a regular job, but he's in a band and he lives in a flat downtown so he's not homeless. I have story progression turned off (both EAxis' and AM's). Is it his lack of regular employment or him living in an apartment and not on a regular lot that makes him specifically getting signed on for bouncer duty? Oh, and in case it matters, he's also a 4 star celebrity.

Sorry to revive the post again but I have a answer and a question. I've actually noticed that any sims without regular jobs in the neighborhood will take jobs like Bouncer and Mixologist, but I don't know why. I do know it happens if the neighborhood dosen't have enough of one sort of npc or another. This happens if you put in more bars or stores/registers, or if the npc just wanders off for whatever reason.

-Edit- I fixed it by deleting the Mixologist, so thanks for the advice. I feel bad for deleting them though.

Simple fix.

BAR REQUIREMENTS
-----------------------------
$70,000 lot value
1 PROFESSIONAL Bar
2 Bathrooms, 1 male, 1 female

Follow these requirements and a mixologist should show up after 2 days or so.
