Story Progression and Empty House...
Hi, I'm back.
I hope this is the right place to ask this...
I have download some empty neighbourhood, and I'm so lazy to populate them... You know that we have only some pre-made sim, and I'm lazy to make new families cause I'm playing on laptop, and it is slow enough to go to CAS...
My Q : Will Story Progression turned on will moving in some random families to some empty house? Thanks for your answer...

I have story progression off, but the game still moves people into empty houses, if the house has a bed and a fridge.

That isn't true, if story progression is on new families will autonomously move in to empty houses.

You should still download a bunch of Sims and put them into your hood, because what the game generates, is just the same default template face.

I stole all the people from Bridgeport and Twinbrooks and crammed them into empty houses, with so many "townies" in my hood, the game doesn't generate any new townies, except for bouncers, bartenders and paparazzi when needed. Then it will use the town's population for co-workers and such.

Agreed with simbalena and ani_.

The game will generate new families to populate your town but they will all look the same so if you want some variety download some sims or import ones from other worlds.

Could the confusion about sims autonomously moving into empty houses
stem from the fact that they won't autonomously move into a house that
was moved out of by the player in the course of the game? I know my
sim's old house stood empty until I moved a family in with edit town.

On another note, will the game move in sims that have been saved to
the sim bin, or do I have to do that manually?

If you get twallan story progression mod it has an option for rapid move in. It is great!!!

Only if your game is unpatched, one of the first few patches stopped that from happening.

I haven't played with EA's SP in a long time, but I know with AwesomeMod and Twallan's SP, it have an option to have the new families genetically blended from the sim bin. I am not sure if it's the CAS bin or household bin. I do set mine high and have some nice mixes. Some not so nice. LOL!
