Default Live/build/buy mode lighting fix?
In the game, certain rooms in houses will be in nearly complete darkness due to the angle of the light source. No matter how many windows you put in, unless they're directly facing the light source, the room stays dark. This means that often rooms at the back of the house are dark, while rooms at the front are perfectly well lit.

It makes it nearly impossible to decorate because you can't see clearly and it's just plain annoying.

Does any one know of any kind of fix for this?

When I'm decorating the darker rooms I always just put some ceiling lighting in to flood the area with light, then place the furnishings and remove the lights before adding the actual room lighting to get the wanted ambience. The same with basement rooms. Or, am I missing something?

Yeah, I do that, too, but it's becoming an annoyance and I was just hoping there might be a permanent fix for it.

There is! There are invisible ceiling and wall lights in the buydebug menu. You can place them and adjust the levels like normal lights but you don't have to delete them 'cause you can only see them in build/buy mode.

It's been a while since I've been on the game but if I'm remembering correctly this is how you access them:

1. In the cheat window type testingcheatsenabled true
2. In the cheat window type buydebug on
3. Go to buy or build, don't remember which and on the category panel you will see a new tab that looks like a "?" question mark.
4. Inside that tab you will find other categories such as tomb stuff and spawners. You want the last tab, I think it's the "miscellaneous" tab.
5. The lights look like white squares/rectangles with no fill.

Very true, and they work great for hidden light sources in-game, but that's the thing...they'll remain in-game and light up the room even though you can't see the source. They do come in very handy though!

uh-huh?....Don't know if I'm just not understanding your point but I fail to see the issue. If you don't want them in live mode then delete them once you've decorated. If you do want the area lit in live mode but you still want to be able to see the light source then place the invisible lights and set them on low setting or just enough to light the corner you want. Then go about placing "real" lights as normal so the invisible lights are just supplementing the normal lights. That way nobody will ever have to know that the light in that corner doesn't come from the ceiling light or the lamp on the table etc.

You don't need testingcheats for that - just buydebug.

What I lack in decorum, I make up for with an absence of tact.

So all this time I've been needlessly typing in stuff I don't need Good to know, lol

LOL! I guess we're just showing two different ways the OP can light her dark rooms, both work and both are good! I guess she was really looking for some sort of "permanent fix" for it. Anyway, we gave her some options.
