Default Familyfunds not working?
Hello! Everytime I try to use the familyfunds cheat it doesn't work, now before I explain more I will say that I am in the neighborhood of Veronaville and have each of the capp and monty families placed into houses.

Now if let's say im in the house with kent and those 2 other people, and I use the cheat "familyfunds capp -300" it won't lower their amount of money, it will instead lower the amount of money to the household with the 5 kids. And it does this whether I am in the lot or not. What do I do to overcome this? (it works for familys that don't have duplicate names in a neighborhood)

Or I could use the motherlode cheat, but then the question I have is, "What is a good way to get rid of money fast, but stop at a certain amount?"

Thank you for your help!

I have this problem all the time too. If I have more than one family with the last name, the funds never change for the right family. I don't know how to fix that... I think I've asked here before and couldn't find an answer.

If I need to get rid of money fast, I'll usually buy something worth the amount that I need to get rid of, stash it in someone's inventory, and give it away as a gift to a townie I'll never play

When there's more than one family with the same last name, I use SimPE to change their finances. From my experience there's no way to choose which family with a duplicate last name will be effected by familyfunds. (And I've tried all the suggestions.)

Some ideas I've seen for lowering money without mods: buying expensive artwork and storing it in inventory, laying down expensive floors (or walls) and then covering it with the floors/walls you want.

There are money mods/hacked objects that would work for you, but since I don't use them I can't remember what they are.

I don't think there is a way to fix that in game except to change the names of the sims (you need to do it with the batbox). You can add and take away cash with SimPE (what I do usually) and there is at least one hack that allows you to add or deduct funds from a sim family's account.

I think "my4monkeys25" has the right idea, but I could do that or make a deep pond and flatten out the land or something,

thanks for the suggestions!

I use Monique's computer from this site which has an option to "donate" money. Basically it just deducts the funds from your account. I got it for this very reason and the overall banking functions it offers but now I use it for so much more, actually I'm sure how I played without it for so long.

If you use Insimenator, the Budget Adjuster will adjust the current household's funds. That's what I use for mine.

I generally work around it by clicking on the house I wanna change the funds for in the neighborhood view(but not going into the house to play it, just the overview thing) and then using family funds. It usually works for me.

I remember reading somewhere (here I think) that when there are two (or more) families with the same last name the most recent family will be the one the game assigns the familyfunds to.

ie John & Jane Doe have 2 kids - James & Joanne, the kids grow up and move out together. You now have two homes, both called Doe. Using familyfunds will only affect James & Joanne as they are the most recent Does in the game.

And I also think TUL is right - if you wanted John & Jane to be affected by the familyfunds you'd need to have them selected in the 'hood view, otherwise it'll default to the above method.

Who knows where thoughts come from....? They just appear.

This must be one of those weird "Your mileage may vary," parts of the game, where it works for some configurations, but not others. I've never had any luck with this or the other usual cheat suggestions.
