Supernatural Vampire Skins
Hi everyone,
I hope I am in the right place. I tried searching for an answer on a couple of sites and am not having any luck. I'm not sure what is going on, but every time I create a vampire in CAS the vampire looks how I want them too with normal/pale skintone. After I am done creating them and actually start playing the game it changes to an ugly green/yellowish hue, but will still look normal in the hud. Any clue why this happens and how I can fix it? Here is an example:

What graphics card does the system have?

Is the skin an EA default or a custom one?
And it affects all Supernaturals or just Vampires? Just the Sims you created yourself, or the EA default Vampires? Affect all age groups?
What if you bring in an EA default Vampire Sim back to Edit-in-CAS (use a mod, as the default EA Edit-in-CAS version is buggy), use this skin on them and go back in-game, same hue appearance?

Hi,
my graphics is a geforce gtx 285 from nvidia.
The current skin in the picture in a custom one, I have not yet tried with an EA one yet. It appears to be just happening to the vampires, I have made witches and humans with no problems. It is also a self created sim, I have not yet made an EA default vampire. It It is the young adult age, but I also have not currently tried other ages. And no I have not yet tried to edit in CAS through a mod, but I can look into doing this as I noticed CAS can be buggy.
My system specs are:

I just tried using an EA skin and no luck there.
I also tried editing in CAS through the game ( I don't have a mod/know which one to try) and also no luck there.

I would suggest using Twallan's Master Controller (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController) to Edit in CAS.

I am Ghost. My husband is sidneydoj. I post, he downloads, and I wanted to keep my post count.

I just ran the game without CC and changed different age groups and it still doing the same thing. According to the hud picture and avatar nothing has changed, but actually looking at the sim during active play and its color/hue is way off. I will try with the mod when I read more on how to use it, thanks for the suggestion =)

I came across your thread @official forums and there was a suggestion of taking an outdoor screenshot for comparison. Have you done that, and can you post it here as well?

Also, update DirectX.
There's a new Nvidia driver update dated 2012.10.10 that you may also want to get.

I updated my driver and direct x, thank you for the tips. I did take an outdoor pictures and it is still off, but not as bad. I noticed the rest of the body looks better outdoors, but the face still looks greenish. Here is the picture:

  • Sims 3 - Installing / Patching / Uninstalling
    1. Whether you are Installing for the first time or Reinstalling, be sure to read the Game Help:Installwiki FAQ.

    2. This Game_Help:TS3_Uninstallwiki link has the step-by-step instructions to guide you through uninstalling The Sims 3,
and its (EP/SP) packs. As well as removing any leftovers after uninstalling.

      • Tips Before You Begin
      • Patching Common Errors
      • Manual Patch Downloads
      • Invalid File Errors and more

What patch version is the base game on at this time? 1.38 or 1.39?
And, what version was it on before updating to this version?
Did you ever have 1.31-1.33 installed before?

Have you tried
- uninstalling both base game + Supernatural,
- run CCleaner to clean Registry,
- reinstall base game, and
- repatch base game directly to 1.39 with Superpatcher?
- reinstall Supernatural

There's no difference in the hue, after reinstalling this way?

Just to be clear, this is still when using EA default skins, no custom skins installed and using an EA default premade vampire from one of the premade Households in a fresh game in Moonlight Falls, with a clean vanilla set of user folders? I want to make sure we have ruled out custom content.

And it is also not a Sim brought into CAS using EA's Edit-in-game; since we still have no CC, there shouldn't be MasterController available.
I want to know if the premade Vampires are already like this out-of-the-box in your game.

Here's how my Vampires look like outdoors and indoors, it's not as green as yours is looking, but there are still hints of that green tint.
That's Dante Morganthe from the Roommates Supernatural Household in the outdoors shots. 2nd set is Ayden Van Gould from the Van Gould Household. I have no cc at the moment except for the Store Worlds and fixed .world(s) I'm working on.
I think the hue is dependent on what their base skin tone is, but the overlay is supposed to make them look paler. I guess depending on the GPU and Graphical settings, we all have different results of how EA code this overlaying of skintones.

The latest one, I always patch as soon it tells me one is available

And, what version was it on before updating to this version?
The latest one as well I think

Did you ever have 1.31-1.33 installed before?
I imagine yes since I always patch it was probably installed at some point, but I had uninstalled my game to reconfigure my computer a few months ago so I don't think the files would still be there

Not yet, when I installed Supernatural it was already to the latest patch. I had the game uninstalled for awhile because I needed to reconfigure my computer. Once I brought Supernatural around the middle of September I installed it a week or two later so I think patch 1.39 was already released but I am not 100% positive.

Yes, I made sure all custom content was turned off and removed from the game files to double check if it changed anything. I did not use the moonlight falls town though, I am using the Appolas (sorry for misspelling) one. I do have one question though what is a clean set of user folders, do I need to delete something in order to try that and is it needed?

And it is also not a Sim brought into CAS using EA's Edit-in-game; since we still have no CC, there shouldn't be MasterController available.

Yes when I turned off the custom content I did not use the edit-in-game I just went to create a household and selected a random EA vampire. I have notice in my town there is supposedly a few vampire sims living in the town and they look normal. Whenever I go to their parties or what not I always get the message so and so has learned that this sim is a vampire.

I too notice that your sim from outside looks similar to mine, so I wonder if there is no changing it then. I was hoping to make them look a little more normal because I think the green hue is just ugly.

  • Sims 3 - Game Problems
Please go through this FAQ and follow the instructions, doing each step in order and not skipping anything:Most issues with the game can be resolved by following those steps.

Do step#3 of the FAQ linked above.

Actually, when you say you removed CC, what do you do specifically?

Appaloosa Plains does not have premade Vampire Households. I need you to test in Moonlight Falls, after doing the FAQ's step#3 above and preferably with the same Sims I used above so we can do a direct comparison. The point of troubleshooting is not to introduce new things, untested things. We want to establish a "baseline", ie what occurs in default settings?

Ok, when I remove CC I take the entire Mods folder out of the Sims 3 folder and move it to my desktop. For launcher stuff I just checked the box that tells the game to load without CC, but I can also move the folder out of the game if that will help.

I followed step 3, thank you for showing me what to do and then I loaded up the game to moonlight falls to take pictures of the two households like you did. This is what I got:

So now we can do a direct comparison!

So, based on that, the side-by-side shots of both our Dantes look kinda the same to me?
