Default Memory Leak, glitch, crash, freeze, 4gb cap SOLVED!!!
My first time with these errors was in August, then I decided to uninstall the game because it wasn't possible to play it. http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=483304

But now, I wanted to try again, I downloaded a lot of custom content (2gb), then I played, once again, and once again it failed. I always play everything in windowed mode, so I check with the windows task manager, and I noticed that doing nothing in the game, the resource consumption from the game went from 1gb to 3.7gb, and then, the crash. This is a memory leak by definition.

It is unlogical that EA in all these years didn't perform an update for "TS3" to make it a 64bit application, as consequence, suppressing the 4gb cap of every 32 bit app, including ts3w.exe

Even knowing that, that doesn't fully explain the cause for the memory leak.

I change my virtual memory size from 6k to 10k. That was a good change, because my computer recommended at least 9k. But the game still was failing.

I update my drivers...every one.

I deleted my mods, and a lot cc, etc, but the memory leak still was there. I was convinced that the ****ing game was the responsible for all of this, but it wasn't.

Thanks to athardragon, she posted on my initial Thread, I got some ideas and the solution. http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=484309

It was the configuration of my nvidia card:
1. Nvidia control panel
2. Manage 3d settings
3. Then I manually add ts3w.exe to the "program settings"
4. I forced to always use "High performance nvidia processor
5. PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Now the game only consumes between 1.2 - 1.5gb

The reason for the memory leak it was because I was using the integrated graphic card for EVERYTHING, and nowadays these things are so good that I didn't noticed that I wasn't using my real high performance graphic card. lol. Now I realized that I have been playing Modern Warfare 3, Wow, sc2, everything with the wrong card.

In my experience, and considering all the forums that I read this days, the problem for the memory leak is not the cc, or the poor design of the game (that is a fact) it is only an inappropriate configuration of the graphic card.

Once again, thanks athardragon, your thread give me the ideas to solve this big problem.

Ah too bad this wasn't in the Technical Help forum. There's a sticky here highlighting how to do switch graphics on laptops that was posted in July: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=481768

Shows how one can really save time by reading the stickies. Glad you got your problems sorted out in the end!
