This user has the following games installed:
Sims 3
Manually patching Sims 3 from 1.22 to latest
Hi, I have never posted here. Sorry if I do something wrong!
I have scoured the MTS forum and the internet in general looking for a way to fix my current issue. All of the threads I have found address similar issues but the other users either also have expansion packs or are running on Windows. I have a pretty high power (for graphic design) MacBook Pro (2010) with the latest version of OS X installed.
My boyfriend downloaded a cracked version of the Sims 3 for me when it first came out but it always had bugs so I never played it, though did install some CC. I miss my Sims so I deleted/uninstalled/purged away this version and I bought a Digital Download of the Sims 3 last night and haven't been able to play it since it finished installing.
Obviously, when I installed it, it was the oldest patch version. It prompted me to update to the latest patch (1.42 I believe) and I accepted. I thought it was all set, but now I am locked at version 1.22. My region code is 7 (since it was a digital download, cross-checked this with the info.plist) and I haven't been able to find a link to a manual patch from 1.22 - 1.24 or, preferably, from 1.22-1.42.
Exactly what happens when the launcher opens:
"A software update is available..." dialog box. I click "OK"
Download window opens and will download up to about 65% of the way. Then I get the error "Base game incompatible with current expansion pack... etc" But I have no expansion packs! None!
Here is what I have tried so far:
1. Removed all CC (duh), downloads, downloaded sims, backups I had imported, etc
2. Deleted the Version.tag file (saw this in another troubleshooting thread)
3. Attempted to download and manually patch but can't find any for Mac (they are all .exe files)
Sorry it's long, just wanted to make sure I gave all of the info I could!
I'll appreciate any help or suggestions!
