Default Mermaids!
Let's talk about mermaids!
Did you find them? What did you discover about them?

What about you?

Might want a spoiler alert in the thread title, though since that was pretty well covered in the preview info it might be redundant

Does anybody know if a sim who befriends a playable townie mermaid/man can get to that island? Or is it only the ones you meet underwater? There are several merpeople living in town.

Yeah, I met Triton King. When he's not being the king of the mermaid world, he's working the consignment register at the consignment store in my town. Not sure that was meant to happen. Nice enough guy, er, merman, though.

I just met Triton King! I didn't have the patience to ask him about kelp recipes 5,000 times to up the relationship so I cheated. I summoned him to land later and now he's my sim's roommate. I've yet to play past that though so we'll see if he keeps my interest.

That must have been done by story progression then, because after 5 weeks I still only have the 4 (homeless) mermaids the game starts with.
(BTW, Triton King showed me the island just yesterday, too. Gotta love those potent friendship elixirs. Now he calls my Sim every day. I think he's got a crush on him.)

My sim met Salty Seaworth merman on her first day in town. It was kind a too easy since he was paparazzi and showed up right away. Kinda took the fun away from finding one. He does look very nice, though.

He isn't though, varpunen. He is in fact, evil so he will always give you bad mermadic kelp even if you're best friends with him, which will only make you nauseous. Looks wise nice though :P

There's bad mermadic kelp ? What does it do, really causing only nausea or does it tranform you into a reverse mermaid? Fish on top with a human bottom?

I believe it's only the mermaids we meet underwater. The mermaids are from the special mermaid pool, like aliens, I think. Isla Paradiso will have 4 mermaids while other worlds will only have 1 in the mermaid pool.

It just causes nausea I was friends with Salty and asked him over, my houseboat was parked on a dive spot so when Salty was grouped with me I chose "scuba dive here with" so I'd get some mermadic kelp. I then asked about fish parts and Salty said the exact line they all say and gave me several kelps. But when I later ate them they'd just make him nauseous and nothing else.
So I searched the problem (because I thought my game had a bug) and it turned out to be just a mean thing that Salty does. I facepalmed a bit. I knew he was evil but I thought that the only drawback was the constant sharks.
Oh well, he married Karlie later and she gave him plenty of the real stuff before the wedding so I'm fine, though playing Karlie I'e decided that I actually don't want my sim to be a merman. Salty is now just a phone-pal! :D

Has anyone found a way to put mersims into the mermaid pool? I'd like to set custom mersims for my sims to meet underwater.

My sims have yet to meet ANYONE while scuba diving, let alone mermaids. Every time I arrive at a dive lot, there's a crowd of people LEAVING

It seems that he requires some personality adjustment, then... well, if I happen to let it go any further with my sim. I was already planning on tweaking his looks just a bit.

OK, wait a sec. There's really a pool that all the mermaids hang out in? Does it have couches so they can relax? A kelp bar? Magazines to read so they don't get bored before their next mer-gig? This thread is going in an odd direction.

Yeah, I wanna see that pool too! All the pretty mermaids in one single place; me hopes there's a hottub...

I started with a merman, Poseidon Atlantis (cheat) to test run the hood. Who knows I love him so much he is now the permanent resident in one of my most playable game. XD

Not sure if it's just my game, but I've not yet seen a single mermaid, not underwater nor in the neighborhood (it's the island one).
I've so far only seen a few other sims diving, but none had tails... Haven't even seen the tail fin of Poseidon...

I ran into Mia Azul while goofing around with the old scuba diver guy in IP.

hahaha, sorry, meant more of an abstract "pool" of available mermaids to randomly be chosen to show up on dive lots. No mermaid lounge as far as I know

My favorite mermaid is Maya Ocean, I kidnapped her with Master Controller and added her to my family, after editing her a bit in CAS, she now sails around with my lifeguard sim and they are BFFs :D
I think she is one of the pre-made one in the game, though I haven't see anyone mention her anywhere, she looks too good and has her outfits are coherent to be randomly generated! lol

I just posted another mod about mermaids right here, this removes the scales on human mermaid legs!

OK, for all you mermaid fans, The Last Mermaid Show, brought to you by The New York Times LINK. So, if you just HAVE to see a real mermaid, and can get down to Florida (it's in the cheap part, at least) you can experience mermaids in their "natural" habitat. Bring on the pool.
