Default How to change career outfit?
Hello there!

I've just had my version of The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection yesterday, and now I would like to ask you all a question
I hate the outfit for Criminal Mastermind in the criminal career. I would like my sim to just wear a nice suit.
How can I change that outfit?

Thanks

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can't unless you somehow find a download replacement for it.

Another thing to label under the "Stuff we have for TS3 that we'll miss on TS2" category for discussion on this thread ---> http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=529338

Go to the WCIF (Where Can I FInd) forum and start a thread asking: "WCIF a business suit default replacement for the Criminal Mastermind?"

Generally speaking, the default replacement database is a good place to start looking for things like that; but the only default for this outfit they have isn't a suit.

Once you start getting default replacements, it's a good idea to make a separate folder for them, so that if they don't work right or you want to change one you don't have to hunt them down.

Okay, so it would not be possible to just switch in some random suit from the casual clothes? It has to be some specific replacements?

And how can I change the outfit, when a proper replacement is found?

I have no idea how one goes about making a default replacement. If you learn to do that, you can make your own replacement - and make it available to others - and that would be a good thing. There's probably tutorials out there for making default replacements. There are for most things.

It's really easy to make a default replacement for a career outfit. You just open up the career in SimPE (you'd need to look up how to do this but it's easy) and then go through Bijou's career editor. There's a part where you can pick the career outfit for each level. If you leave everything else intact you can just change this one thing to a suit which is already in game or a custom suit and then make sure that the GUID for the career remains the same so that it overwrites the default career. In fact, you could even change it to -none- and then have your sim wear any clothes they like to work.

There is another way to do it which is the same as making a default replacement for any outfit but that is much more complicated. For the first method the only thing you need to know is the GUID for the outfit you wish to override it with, which can be found in game using testingcheats and Shift-N in create a sim.

Or the other way to do it would be to download a mod which removes all career outfits and lets them wear any clothes, but this would affect all careers and not just the criminal career, but that would be the non-SimPE way.

Thank you! Where may I locate a tutorial for this task?
I don't even know where to begin..

If I want to open a certain career in SimPE and edit it.. How to?

I've done it but I can't remember offhand. Try looking through the tutorials here - there's definitely a tutorial on creating custom careers which would familiarise you with the steps, or google it. Once you've got the career open it's really very simple, you just open up Bidou's Career editor (It's in one of the top menus, probably Tools), find the level you want to edit and change the outfit to -none- or the GIUD of whatever outfit you want to replace it with. That's just a drop down menu and text box.

Or another option is a mod to make your sims wear his casual wear that you set to be a suit. http://modthesims.info/d/299589 This would make all sims not wear work uniforms though.

Second option would be to PM a creator on the list of 'Creators who take requests' and ask if they can make a default for you, or over on GOS wishing Tree.

Actually, I've just done exactly that with the police outfit for the middle levels. I followed a tutorial here though it is somewhat out of date - you don't need to find and replace the LiFos. (If you do the tutorial, you will know what that is).

Can you alter the in-game careers SimFreq? Doesn't that mean altering the objects.package?

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.
I'm here on tumblr and my site, tflc

Okay, so I've downloaded the career file and managed to open it up through Bidous Career Editor. But when I am done editing what I want edited, how do I then make it overwrite the original career? Don't want two look-alike careers.
And how can I put random clothes into the career as outfit? As I see it I can only choose from a list of actual career outfits.

Don't alter the objects.package. If you want to edit outfits for an in-game career, extract the appropriate #STR resource from Objects.package and save it in a package file of its own, which then goes in your Downloads folder.

thjen, just save over the original file. For adding random Maxis or CC outfits, consult a tutorial .

Yep, what Nysha said. You extract the career from the objects.package, but save it as a new package. If you leave the career's GUID intact, it will act as an override. I have made several overrides in this way with no issues at all.
